Downpipe mid pipe install??

I am planning to get a downpipe and a mid pipe for my 93 fd tt. The downpipe will eliminate the oem pre cat. Will this set off the check engine lights? Also with the mid pipe will I have to remove the catalytic converter? I dont want to start doing thing if my check engine lights will go on. Hoping to get a little more power out of this. I been reading around and they say it is highly recomended to replace the factory down pipe becuase this is why most rx7 engine fails.

Do you have any other mods to the car? Is your wastegate ported?

Well no mods yet, The car did come with a aftermarket muffler. Just did a JDM motor swap. Old motor blown. I am planning to upgrade the cooling system after I do the exhaust piping.

the CEL won't come on w/ the downpipe as long as the o2 sensor can hook back up. if ur keeping ur air pump its better to get a highflow cat.

Ok thats good to know. What about the mid pipe? Will it affect anything? I am planning to get this one but from a local shop that does not have a clue about the products but selling them. http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/dpmpcombofd3s.htm it does say in the product description that it replaces both the pre and main catalytic converters.

Midpipe will cause boost creep on a stock wastegate, you must get it ported unless you enjoy rebuilding engines.

RX7 Store is pretty good about knowing what they sell. Jason is also on this Forum quite a bit and might take exception to that comment.

The down pipe and the test pipe will come as a pair so I guess I can the mid pipe. I dont want to end up rebuilding engines so thanks for the advice. Is it a pain in the a$$ to change the down pipe? How do you port the waste gate?
