New Fuel filter
New FPR
New Orings for the primary FIs
Engine Harness wrapped in heat shielding tape
Cross Drilled and Slotted Rotors
17 inch rims with (lots of tread on them)
16 inch stock rims (they need new tires)

Some other tid bits:
Stock water temp gauge stopped working, why you may ask, I dont know and havent researched the problem. The low coolant buzzer still works though and since I have a digital water temp gauge and the powerFCs temp readings there is no need for it.
The car is strictly run on a premix (has been since that motor was built)
Any and all imput from the experts would be great, thanks :bigthumb:

it cost about 1-3k per year to maintain the car, if you can afford this, by all means buy it. also, millage can sometimes be quite craptastic
as for relibility, id choose a civic or some other car. perhaps a new car and keep it stock. FD's are pretty much play/toy car which are no good for transporting anythign but yourself and perhaps a fairly small person (i hate riding shotgun in any FD!). they are hella fun though and worth it if you can afford it. how old are you and do you have a job which pays more then minimum wage?

Thanks for all the replies, it is going for 12.5k, it is a steal. about the smog, i new it wasnt going to pass, so the question is, how many smog connections are there around the bay area? , about the reliabilty issues, yea it will be my only car, but it isnt like i will be driving 80 miles to commute, it will be used for going to and from school (2 miles), and jsut driving me around whenever. to the third reply i got, 1. i can use my moms van , 2. yea i can probably manage to find a smog hook-up, 3. i do have a job, and i have some money in the bank. to the forth reply, yes i have a job, i ve been there for 2 years and bring home an average of 135-175 every two weeks. and for the fifth reply, im not sure what ecu it ahs, but i do know it comes with the apexi power FC (with the whole hand held thing). This seems like a deal that can't be passed, hes in new york and im in cali, shipping would be around 500-600 i was told.

135 to 175 every two weeks is not much as income, for example if the motor blows that's an easy $5,000 expense...gas alone for eveyday driving cost about $40.00 a week depending how much you drive the car and how hard....unless your parent's is willing to help you maintaining it I suggest you look for something else to buy..Insurance alone will be very expensive.

yea, the car is 12k, when he first listed it for sale, it was at around 20k, but no one was showing interest, so over time the price has gone down and down, it is really an awsome car, all i am concernd about is the whole smog issues.... . it seems when you look for an rx 7 in the bay area, they all have nearly 100k miles, and cost way mpre then this one. id hat to let the deal pass, but my parents wont let me ship a car...

Man I don't know about you but in order to maintain the fd your going to need to make more money than that. **** with that car you will burn up all of your money in gas. If I were you just get a na 300zx and have fun with it. Its still quick but not as expensive as a 300zx tt or an fd to maintain. Is your parents paying for your insurance? If not your screwed. **** I am making $2400 every 2 weeks and thats barely enough if you start blowing **** up. Thats my $0.02 on this topic. Anyway good luck.

Have you seen my Wankel?

No, i saw that car at a honda-tech meet, it really seemed like it was having problems, and it needs alot of body work, and also he doesnt have any of the papers for the motor rebuild. Its also funny how the price went from 20k to 12k since the last time i checked it

If you want reliable, get something close to stock. There are only a very select few modifications that truly enhance reliabilty in every way without sacrificing anything. Think about it like this, if the car was really reliable, why does it already have an engine rebuild at only 68K miles?

hey thats my car....it started at 20k for the hell of it...not for the reason of a joke..my buddy sold his MB 94 with 64k on the car and 20k on the motor with no papers for 17.5...and around that time rx7s had a better going rate...the price has dropped cause I honestly dont care how much of hit i take i just need to move on...
your more then welcome to stop by with a compression tester and a mechanic
i live in rhinebeck NY 2 hours north of NYC....
And if your looking for a reliable car....then dont buy this...im not saying that because the car isnt such, it just that its a modified car.......i have another car for the reliable side of driving...a 95 4runner....

i dunno man.... i was in your stage... gas is going to kill you, there was one point where i spent $80 in 5 days for gas. I had to DD my rx7 because my saturn went out of commission due to letting a girlfriend of mine drive a stick shift.... Be careful though, i wouldn't reccommend it unless you had your own car to daily drive and made at least $300 a week on minimum. I'm getting raped up the *** trying to pay off my car even though I only pay $170 a month it's still a lot for me. You'll realize how expensive it is owning this car once you get it, but to save you money and time, just wait till you graduate from college and you get a stable job to support this car. and this is coming from a 19 year old that's owned it since July of 2004. I didn't expect my saturn to break down so I was stable with the payments and maintenance until i had to DD the 7, I'm currently changing jobs just so i can repair my saturn and payoff the 7. But daily driving the rx7 is a bitch when your funds can't support it, especially when it's modded. Just wait till you get a good job...

wow, thanks for everyone getting back to me, i didn't know if the owner was on here or not. i realize i will pay a lot for gas, and when the thing isnt working right, i can drive my moms van, and my brother should be getting a car soon, which will be just an automatic/stock car i can use to get to school. this car really caught my eye because it has so much stuff done to it, also the price is great. in the bay area, nearly all rx-7s, no matter the milage are listed at 13k +. i guess it would be pretty hard for me to find a smog hook up for the car, let alone get familier with working on it. i guess for now ill just stick to trying to find a tt 300zx... ?

A tt 300zx will be just as expensive to maintain and run. It is after all turbo charged. If you blow a turbo be prepared to shell out some coin as the turbo is under the car and the labour will be expensive. Just buy yourself a civic or a corolla for the time being and when you have a good job and are able to support yourself and a expensive car then go for it.
On a side note at $175 every 2 weeks you will be single for ever if you buy the fd. How are you going to afford to take a girl out if all you have is $0.50 left in your bank account. There is more to life than a car. But then if the palm twins are always in town then get the fd. LOL
