Most people just cut their fiberglass bumper, bolt on the bumper and spoiler, and call it good. If you lose the stock oil cooler ducts as part of that process (the duct from the bumper to the front of the cooler(s) themselves), then you're probably doing more harm than good with the larger opening. A larger opening doesn't necessarily mean that the air is going where you want it to. The same goes for the revised radiator/intercooler duct.
Si senor! Ducting is Muye Importante!!! Proper ducting was one of the key items that allowed me to run unlimited laps at the track without getting too hot. Took me a while to get the car set up right so that it would always stay cool.

John,
However I've never had trouble with overheating due to insufficient front openings on my 93 front end and I do a lot of track days.
Ho hum...like I said before just because you can doesn't mean it's good or the best way to do things. I, like you, ran with the '93 front end on the track for years and only had cooling issues when it was 105deg F ambient. However the cooler I can get my car to run the better off I feel I will be. YMMV. It's your call.

I have also had my non spoiler equipped stock bodied & stock ride height '93 up to 150mph on the track and it felt fine on the straights. Steering was not light. Crispy... maybe it was an alignment or tire issue?
Nah. I've done enough track days over the last 8 years to know it's not tire or alignment.

However that big banked turn at 140mph... me no likey... but I think that was due more to the size of my cajones (just not a Nascar boy I guess). I prefer tracks that are under 130mph anyway.
Ah ha...stability in a straight line at steady state 140mph isn't being called into question, however physics indicates you do anything...anything at all, to upset that steady state condition and "interesting" things can happen. The crest on the back straight at VIR at 150 even when driving dead straight is quite uncomfortable in cars without some consideration for aero. Similarly, rounding the tree on the front straight at VIR at 140 where the road takes a little drop as you are turning the corner is not somewhere you want a "light" car. And it's not about cahones...it's about safety.

This should go without saying. The number of FD's I see with aftermarket fornt bumpers and no undertray make me wonder about the future of our species

LOL I'd love to hear you go head to head with Chuck at RE on this topic regarding his giant but unducted aftermarket oil coolers

My main objection is mixing and matching ('99 spoiler on '93-'95 bumper), and the shape of the driving lights in the '99 bumper. They just don't look good with sleek lights, in my opinion.
Then don't install the sleek lights

rybrx7,
i thought that the plate had a function on the 99 spec front?? im sure i saw some sort of diagram with air flowing through the plate area.
It does have a function....if run with the '99 stock air intake system. Virtually no one runs the stock '99 intake so the bumper plate "duct" isn't really necessary.

BTW My state has a law requiring a front plate. Have I mounted a front plate? Nope Not for the last decade ...and probably never will either.

Good discussion BTW although not necessarily what the originator had in mind when he asked whether the '99 bumper **looks good** pffft!
