Hey guyz. I'm doing the silicone vac hoses on my car. What colour do you think I should go with. My car is a Montego Blue and I have just finished polishing my UIM and Throttle body. I am stuck between blue (1st choice)and red. What do you think would look better under the hood?

I think that blue lines would look the best next to the Montego Blue. But then again I think that yellow lines would look good against that color too. Just my .02 though Laterz.

I thought that yellow lines would be a little much( stick out like a sore thumb). If I wanted that much flash under the hood I would choose yellow for sure. So blue so far huh.......

Wazzzup dude? I think you should go red, like my car . First of all, most guys go blue so you would be like everyone else. Second, after a while, the blue seems to just blend in and be boring. Red, on the other hand, has that sharp, racing look to it. Put red and blue next to each other and which one looks more like a race car? And lastly, the proof is in the reactions; every time I pop my hood, their eyes always pop out and they go "wow, this is bitchin!!!"
And red goes with almost any color; it would look great against your dark color. And lastly, I would think you would want it to match your red brake calipers.
But... this is just my opinion: red
(I know, I still need to change the intercooler pipe couplings to red; the blue is temporary)

I chose red for my Montego car, but a few people have commented that it was a stange choice. I think it looks good. Yellow was too much for me, but I also think it is a good match for Montego. Yellow would get dirty quickly, too. Blue is okay, but it doesn't match Montego better than any of the other colors in my opinion, since it is usually light blue. Blue is kind of boring, too. Black or silver would also be nice, I think.

My options are blue, red and yellow. Where I am getting it from only has those three colours. I agree that yellow would get more dirty quicker. Tom, your right buddy, the red does look racy, but I'm not to sure if I want racy or clean. I guess it would look good with my calipers too. So you think I should leave my calipers red then Tom? I agree Max, I would definetly get silver if I could.

Well, like I said buddy, if it were me, I would get red because I like the racy look. But what I like will obviously be different than the next guy.
So..... you've got several different opinions here. You have to make the final decision on what really is the best for you and what image you want the car to give- your car is an extension of you.

Rotorhp, be daring, get some purple or pink hoses and make a statement: "I don't give a **** what you think about my Pink or Purple(pick one color) hoses because is my car and I can put on anything I want"

Kinda like a big buff steroid user saying, "nope, never used any drugs", know what I mean?
Don't go red just cuz I or Max say so... it has to be your gut instinct.

I thought purple would be kinda feminine at first. It didn't even cross my mind to get em'. Then my mechanic put one purple hose on to correct a problem and it looked pretty exotic. I know you can't choose but between 3 colors. I'm only giving a shout out for purple. I just ordered mine from hose techniques and they look pretty risqué and I don't give a flying monkey what anybody thinks. All my friends thought it was gay but wait until those sexy tubes are gracing my engine's color scheme. Damn different if you ask me.

Actually, I can picture purple and that would probably look pretty cool with your dark color too. Whatever you get, I recommend www.hosetechniques.com and then you can get any color you want.

Under hoods for "race" purposes, red is the color for fuel systems.
I have blue. The reason I have blue is because it's in the same color family as silver so it doesn't look ***** mightier or "mad tyte" and all of my air-related pipe fittings are blue. One of the "race" uses for the color blue is to represent an air line. I'm not looking to win Import Showoff.

Personally, I like black. But it doesn't really matter what color you go with, they will all look pretty much black after awhile anyway. Every car I work on (or buy) that has colored vac lines, I change them to black because it makes the engine bay look dirty. You just cant keep the colored lines clean (black either, but it is black!). Oil residue and silicone just don't mix.
If you are careful installing them and don't get them dirty right off the bat, they will look good for about 6 months or so. Of course, maybe you are not as much of a clean freak as I am. I like a CLEAN engine bay.

Interesting race purpose analysis, did not know that.
So if I'm at a race, I'll tell my pit crew, "listen boys, I went with purple for those air lines, so for all of you that are used to blue, this race team now officially has purple in the bay. I figured it would make a fashion statement as well as sprucing up the otherwise mundane outlook typical of a race-team. Boys, we are breaking the mold and that starts with a little purple baby!"
This of course is all hypothetical, but when I get a sponsor I'll just have to tell em' what's up.

This is what I am talking about guys.
Think out of the box.
Garret, I never thought about making a fashion statement with our cars.
YEAH!! Who cares if it looks gay, soon it will catch on and we'll be seing rainbow colors under our hoods.

Well now... the guy I was getting the SVH from phones me at work today and says his supplier has dropped the line of hose and has no more..... the basterd. I'm not huge on the purple idea. Being bold is cool Garrett, but with purple lines....hmmm cant see it on my car. Thats how I have always seen anything purple, cool if it isn't mine. I like the clean look under the hood too aReX-7, but I want people too see that I have done the job. If I have to go Hose tech to get these, I think silver would be kinda neat. You guys think? They have a dark blue too correct? I never thought about the lines matching my intercooler piping couplers. I think red might be better that way then. Hose Tech only has those in red or blue... Dam I'm starting to freak out...cant make up my mind!!!
