Ditto.
New sports cars are mostly unexciting for me. Heavy, gadget-laden, and, of course, expensive. Sure, I wouldn't mind owning an Aston Martin V8 Vantage, a Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale, the new Jaguar F-TYPE, etc., but I'd still keep the 7. Nothing beats it for beauty and a pure driving experience.
It sounds like the new Porsche Boxster has a similar mission to the 7 – driver involvement: Winding Road | Driven: 2013 Porsche Boxster
I hope the improvements make their way to the Cayman, eventually. The previous owner of my 7 got a Cayman, which drives very nicely.

Electric hood opener with no manual pull....SERIOUSLY! So if the battery goes dead or the electronics or electric motor fails it fails and you are SOL.
Automatic window goes up and down when you open or close the door (allow for easy door closing without pressurized air) and it malfunctions constantly which really sucks in the rain.
Key gets locked in the ingnition if the battery dies
etc.......
TERRIBLE abs that's so sensitive that you can't track it hard/brake late on slicks etc... without the pedal going completely stiff and you jeopardizing your car or your own safety. It's called ice mode and it's a freaky scary thing to encounter.
All this traction control nonsense that can't be completely turned off and should never be turned on or equipped on a sports car to begin with.
Why can't there be a completely manual sports car I don't even want power windows.
This is a huge turn off for me for any new P car and they just get worse and worse . The new GT3 may not even have a manual transmission Hell maybe I'll have to pony up 50k for a lotus if mainstream car manufactures keep going down this road.
I will be daily driving my FD when I'm finished (hopefully next week). I bought the car from a forum member for cheap but the rebuild was more than the cost of the car. I replaced almost everything under the hood now. Looking forward to driving it instead of my Corolla.

Been dailying mine for about a year and half now. It was an automatic that was 99% stock. Fast forward now and it's 5 speed with nearly all the reliability mods you can think of, nice quality coilovers and awesome tires. I'm working on refreshing all the bushings, but for now I friggin love it. Even in Japan it still turns heads. I've had quite a few awkward hand motion convo's with the locals since I speak not a lick of Japanese.
I feel like I'm one hell of position too, I feel like I'm basically collecting parts for when I'm back Stateside and I actually have the chance to own another one for a longer term.
