Defi Gauges Installed...Pics
Hi all, thought I would share my defi install experience with you...it was not that difficul but still took me a while bacuse I didn't knwo where i wanted to put everything...
I ended up buying a three gauge pilar pod for a 94+ intera and hacking the **** out of it and then mounting an EGT, Oil Temp, and Water Temp...then with the column mount I installed the boost gauge....
what i noticed abou the defi gauges is that the wires that they come packaged with to daisy chain them to each other are a bit short...I spliced into them and made a couple of them about 2ft to make things a bit easier...
Also, i just wanted to say thanks to everyone out there that help me make a decision on the car...I ended up landing a 94 SS R2 in perfect condition...really please with it...so thanks guys...
So far I have installed Apexi intake, HKS turbo timer, the defi gauges, and I have the downpipe going on next friday...
Oh...the gauges are installed BUT the only one I have really hooked up is the boost...the EGT, Oil, and water temp I am going to have someone mount the sensors for me since I am not a drilling and tapping kinda guy...
does anyone know where to find that GReddy adapter for the Oil temp sensor?
Here are some pics

Here's where I mounted the gauge CPU..
and no, it's nowhere near being kicked off...when the door is closed and you look down you can barely see it...

I just saw the Defi boost gage last weekend and it's damn nice. The best thing is the playback feature. I think this would be very handy for debugging boost problems. You really can take that info down in real time. I wonder if they are any more accurate than the rest.

Sweet install man..I've got the Defi-link Boost and Water temp gauges which I will be mounting on a Automer dual gauge pod..I was wondering where I could/would mount the Control Unit. Your mouting place gives me an idea, what other easily accessable places could I mount this thing???

Where I mounted mine to me looked like the best place is you want to be jacking with the buttons much...I figure I was going to be playing with it so I wanted easy access to it...that spot I mounted it was awesome...Someone alos mounted theirs right below the radio in the empty space thing...
Other than that I guess you just have to be creative...You might find that the link cables are a bit short but you can extend them by splicing in and solding some other wires into the existing ones...I did mine and it was no prob...If I didn't the way I installed it would not have been possible because of the short cables...
Good luck man! I like 'em

I think I will definitely be playing with it a little bit to select different gauges and playback some information, so I suppose your mouting spot is very accessible. I happen to have the tourin model so I've got both the DIN's taken for the radio and CD player. If I go aftermarket, I might relocate.
How did you get the CU to stick there, double-sided tape, velcro??
Which wires were a little short exactly?? I only have 2 gauges which both will be going in the A-Pillar pod..so I think the wires to daisy chain them should be sufficient, then I only need a single cable to run the length from the CU to the first gauge and being located essentially underneat the A-Pillar, I would think the provided CU wire should be long enough??
I guess I'll start to figure it out when I start the install..
How long did it take you to put it all together??? Where exactly did you plug the Boost sensor, where did you tap in for the power?? Any and all pics you can provide would be helpful. I hope I can PM or email you privately for some instructions if I get stuck..![Smilie](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
