debadging problems
Hello,
I debadged my car, but there are post holes left over. I've asked a few friends who do body work and received different answers. I was told by one person the whole front and rear bumpers will need to be filled and the entire panel repainted, another told me it would be possible to fill the holes, and repaint the area. I love how the car looks without badges, but another grand just to lose the badges isn't worth it to me, especially in the middle of my single turbo build. These panels have both been repainted two years ago when I was rear ended and slid into a pickup truck in front of me.

Too bad you didn't dump the badges then. If it's that fresh I would go with the least amount of painting of the filled holes. Then if it turns out bad, tell the guy now he has to paint both bumpers completely. Personally, I like the badges. Nobody knows what kind of car it is anyway.

Most painters will opt to paint the entire panel that is being touched up. That's just how most will work. If you do a small spot like that, the paint might not match the rest of the panel (rear bumper) well.
I slightly debadged my first FD. I put Efini emblems, but removed "mazda" and "RX-7". After removing "Mazda", I saw there were small holes for that emblem like that of the chrome mazda logo emblems. I covered mine up with a Greddy badge that came with my exhaust. Just an idea...

John, you can pick up the RX-7 Efini Nameplate from RP, it will cover up the holes in the rear nicely:

Off topic, but how did you remove all the glue and whatnot from your bumper? I had my badges stolen a couple weeks back and have not come up with a good way to get it off without pulling the paint too.

I do like the alternate badges but my goal was to debadge the car completely. I prefer the clean look. Are there any ways to match the paint electronically?
