datalogit for Power FC

http://geocities.com/fdkaimember/data-log_100m.html

From reading various threads on the Power FC forum, it seems this software has some extreme possibilities if it is as great as it seems.

From what I hear so far.

-it is essentially a "FC-Box" which connects to the Power FC where the commander normally connects

-which then connects to a serial port on a laptop.

- another connection for the Power FC Commander is on the "FC-Box"

-it basically allows manipulation of everything and then some hidden things that the Commander can and can't do. But on a more user friendly PC.

-datalogging! Basically delimited txt files which can be easily converted into Excel files for charting

It looks like quite a few people have gotten in on this an are enjoying it quite a bit. I've just been informed of it's existence and am going to look a lot more into it.

Can anyone who has any more information about it, that I haven't mentioned, please give more.

I have mine sitting in a box untill my engine is back in my car, I was going to bring it to the driving seminar last month but I forgot, I'll try and remember to bring it next time there is an OC meet ( or speedzone).

I've had mine about a month and can't believe something this valuable comes so cheaply. It works perfectly, gives you access to countless things that the commander does not (injector settings, fan settings, turbo switchover points, the list goes on), provides real time (and logged for excel) dataloging, provides for an external hi-low boost switch, and has an anit-lag feature. Swapping an entire set of maps with someone else is now a 5 second process. You can also essentially plug and play with a DIY wideband, supplying nonlinear voltage in and getting A/F dataloged. The manual is available to look at before you purchase if you want here:

by anti-lag, are you talking about the rally type, feeding gas through without igniting so it hits the headers, ignites and keeps the turbo/s spoiled off throttle?

Excellent.

I'm try to register myself with the Yahoo group right now. It might take a while.

Can anyone in the meantime send me the instruction manual.

Does the Datalogit allow tuning of the fabled "base map"? (IE, when you do an "all data init" the modified map doesn't get wiped out.)

From what i am reading it allows you to alter the base maps.

My car has been in hibernation since November and I haven't even sat in it. So my memory is fuzzy.

The only maps that the commander would let you see is, Ignition leading, igniton Trailing, and fuel correction maps. Am I right?

Secondly when you let XS dyno tune your car, they make changes to a "hidden map" Is that the base maps they are talking about?

yes, you have access to the base maps where you can set the specific amount of fuel delivered, if you want.

OK. Now I am really plagued with a decision. Power FC with Datalogit or AEM. Anyone care to summarize the pros and cons of each unit? Will the datalogit let you do everything you can with the AEM?

This debate rages on in the ECU forum (go read for yourself). Based on the number of people using an AEM ECU (one) versus the PFC (100's) and the time on market for inevitable debugging and accumulation of knowledge, the decision was not difficult for me. I suppose it depends upon your priorities.

One of the next features they maybe working on for the next version according to them, is providing video outs so that readings (temp, knock, etc) displayed on the Commander can be sent to an 8in LCD screen, for example. All eight readouts selected at one time should be readable then. THATS what I'm waiting for!

I believe it's going for around 250 USD.

I have no idea who the contact is to purchase it yet.

Anyone care to fill us in?

Get in touch with Glen at glen@rx7.net.nz

He quoted me $280 USD shipped.

As I understand it the PFC will only allow the use of 1300cc secondary injectors. If this is right will the datalogit allow for an increase to say 1500cc secondaries? Will PFC with out datalogit allow for this?
Thanks

the highest you can go w/o the datalogit equipment is 1500cc injectors. K2RD and other companies have 1600 injectors and fuel rails that you can add to get that extra amount of fuel needed, so many people with power FC's and 1600 fuel injectors just turned it up to 1500 and dealt with it.

WITH the datalogit, you are no longer limited to JUST 1500cc max injector size. You can put whatever value you desire.

Interesting how Apexi could have been making the money from such a product and possibly could have been even a better unit.

I guess they don't have many good business men over there

This thing is awsome. I just got mine in yesterday and I've barely even used 5% of what this thing can do. I adjusted the temp the fans come on and now my water temp never gets above 87 C in stop and go traffic. That in itself is well worth it. I also adjusted the the fuel for the idle to keep it from smelling too rich. You can take fuel out of the cell and you can also set the target that the ecu looks for when at idle. Both of these settings together has smoothed out my idle and made it run a lot leaner. No more smelling like gas! Can't wait to get my wideband 02 sensor and really start tuning this thing.
