Damn Microtech

Background:
Ususally but not always, under boost I get the dreaded flashing error red light on my microtech LT-8s signifying an error code. Error is a "HOME" signal loss which equates to a CAS error.

I've spent about 30 hrs trying to correct the issue. I've tried the following so far:
1) Rerouted wires figuring it may be a electic interference from either the alternator or coils.
2) Replaced the CAS sensors
3) Shimmed the CAS sensors since the gap was out of spec.
4) Replaced the wiring harness CAS clips (soldered and shrink tubing)

ALL to no avail.

So, the car went to KD Rotary yesterday to have Dave look at my ongoing CAS error on my microtech. Dave hooked up his laptop, did some testing and diagnosed the problem to an internal problem in the microtech - loose connection or board issue. Could be a solder joint.

Moron that had the car before me just had the microtech behind the kick panel. Not secured to anything. I assume the bouncing around broke an internal connection.

Dammit. Now I have to send it back to Microtech in Australia and hopefully they can fix it. Since it out of production..........

Sorry guys.....just venting a bit.

I've have fix quite a few problems that the same person supposedly caused on other cars. Some people just shouldn't work on cars. I wish you mentioned it at the bbq last weekend. I could have told you some stories. Glad Dave was able to sort it out for you. How is he feeling?

Ah I would have liked to hear the stories. I wish I knew to mention my issues.

Yeah, some people should NOT be allowed to work on cars. Lazy, half-assed builders. All the things that people "see" was done nice. Its the things that are hidden that were done somewhat half-assed - computer not secured, wiring issues (I mean really, who runs RED wire to the negative terminal of a battery and black to the positive - sounds small but what if I didn't check the battery), single oil cooler (with a 450+ hp single turbo set up, you'd think they would run duals when building it???), etc, etc.

Dave has been a life saver for me on more than one occasion. He is doing somewhat better but I think he needs surgery on his knee. Its still braced and he is supposed to stay off of it. Yeah right. He is trying to get down under my dash with his leg all braced up and what not. He is going to kill himself one of these days. He just works too damn hard.

Sorry to hear your problem with the ecu, small things can/do add up. I am also running a single oil cooler on my single setup but temps are good for the street, which is the only place the car gets driven till I can figure out how to get on the local road course here then i'll be building a nice twin cooler setup
