Damn coupling pops off!!

Hey guys, I seem to be having some trouble with a rubber joint that keeps coming off during boost. It's the coupling that connects the elbow joint coming up from the intercooler (stock) and the Y-pipe. Upon inspection I found that the stock coupling had a tear in it, so to fix it the previous owner slapped a home depot 3" coupling over the factory one and clamped it down. Now I've had the car for about a month now and never had any problems til this week. As a temporary solution I chucked the factory/home depot combo in the garbage and fitted a piece of 3" (inside diameter) heavy duty hose, that I picked up at a place that sells marine supplies, and clamped this sucker as tight as I could. It works a little better than what I had on there before, but it's still a little loose and pops off under boost. So, I'm wondering if I should try to find some 2.75" (inside diameter) hose to fix the problem or should I just get the factory part (#13-247)? Anyone know how much the factory coupling costs? Is there an aftermarket part that fits? I'd appreciate any input.

if you use a 2inch one from homedepot and streach it over, it will fit. My brother has been using one for about 6 months now and he is always on the boost and it has not popped off once yet.

good luck

I have a 2.75" and it has never popped off. I can see why a 3" would pop off.

You can get 1 foot for $22.

Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated. I think I'll try to hunt down some 2.75" as I'm sure it'll be cheaper than the factory part.

Skunks: how in the world did your brother manage to stretch a 2" hose over a 2.75" joint?!!

Thanks again.
