They made 350 in the USA. I have 2 of them. This registry won't go very far though.

It's a nice idea, but unless you are an original owner, how can you be sure someone claiming to have a CYM doesn't have a repainted '93 R1?

A true registry has some independent or objective way to validate the member cars. Usually it's a serial number or chassis #.
As time goes on, and cars start being restored, we'll probably see some "fakes" floating around out there. If there's no way to independently verify what you have, it cuts down on the collectibility.

a) color code is on the door jamb sticker

and b) its easy to call mazda with the vin...

also since the entire body is yellow, it would be a GIANT amount of work to change colors.

if you really spent serious money and ended up with a fake, i'm afraid you'd deserve it, for not looking over the car

why is that specific paint color such a big deal? is it because its a low production color? is that the attraction?

Unless an FD is factory gunmetal grey or pearly white I don't think people really care here.

Mazda used to have a member registration section on their site (...might still be there) to check your car's basic info using the VIN. A Door jam with stickers can be fraudulently meticulously replaced with a real one (...say...pulled from a salvaged CYM ). Better to use the VIN that's on your firewall.

I read somewhere just recently (not CYM, but another color)...that someone noticed a mix matching VIN on the same car: door jam didn't match up with the firewall.

My dad's got an original '93 CYM base from Canada.

I want a CYM so terribly bad. Anyone want to trade for a black JDM 92?

firewall can be changed, but the vin sticker in the door jamb is designed to come apart, in like 3-4 pieces if you try to pull it off.

new ones were not available.
