Get slotted. Crossdrilled are very prone to cracking. I had cross drilled and slotted rears and I had 4 cracks in each rotor.

well the real thing with the cross drilled is you want to get rotors that had them cast in rather than machined in after the rotor was cast that way they are less prone to cracks. Also if the holes are chanfered that will help out even more. I have not cracked a set yet but I'm not saying it does not happen so do your homework and pick a quality part out.

honestly, there are much more important things to focus on for auto-x than brake rotors. oh, and cross drilled is trash.

Check the rule book. I just started AutoX and run in SS. Not sure if they would consider slotted rotors "essentially identical to the standard part". And in the few AutoX courses I've been in, they wouldn't have been of any benefit. At least not for me.

blanks are better, especially if you plan on moving up to track work. And please don't ever mention street 'racing' again.

you guys are very confused here... the slotted ones are the pad eaters!!! i have had both and will argue to the death (if the rotors are made of good metal) that drilled are better for just the street driver with an occasional brake fest. and for the record all drilled rotors crack and its perfectly normal. if they have big cracks that is from poor quality metal, casting or someone selling rotors that were drilled after casting! drilled rotors are ment to dissapate heat and keep the gases that glaze rotors circulating out of the area. slotted are meant to get rid of a glazed area and keep fresh pad area exposed. it all depends on your application. for the street i would most likely use good blanks and just learn how to brake properly. that would be in intervals not stoping solid. drilled rotors are next in line for someone like me i have awsome mountains in my area where we do runs down so i need a rotor to cool itself a little bit. for the track you can you use the combination or just slotted. its not really possible for a track person to break in pluses because when you need the brakes you simply just use them and get off. personally i dont think the hybrids are really worth it i just think its trying to market the best of both worlds... and remember that phrase "chicks with dicks" that was also the best of both worlds so i think your getting what im saying here. go with one or the other. i like my drilled rotors i have had them on every car i've had. it doesnt really take effect in the rear of the car since it only does 30% of the braking so i would just do blanks in the rear. hope this helps and i hope i didnt **** to many people off im just stating my experiences and welcome others to share theres aswell. were all adults here

/\ I STILL WOULD PERFER SLOTTED ROTORS just for the fact that ive seen incidents using the same brake pads compared to drilled. and i know that rotors wont alone help me out, thats just one subject i need opinions on. However the more surface the calipers touch the easier & quicker the car will brake. Im just trying to get into something more safer than racing on the street

wellll...mono4lamar I would have to disagree with you, drilled rotors came about in the early years of brake developement do to eccessive out gassing by early brake pads, a problem which has been all but elliminated. slots were developed as a better way to evacuate gasses without the inherent problems with holes(cracking) and to a very minor % they helped to keep the pad surface clean. in either case when being used in anything less than an all out track car slotted or drilled rotors are simply for looks or ego. I f any one still has doubts about slots look at any professional race winning car within the last 5 years (CART,IRL,GRANDAM,NASCAR,ALMS........

^Before things go any further, this is from a quick search in the Suspension/Wheels/Tires/Brakes section. Maybe where this thread should have been in the first place.
