Cost to rebuild engine

I'm new to the rotary and I was wondering - approximately, what would be the cost to have an engine rebuilt. This assumes I pull the motor and strip it of accessories etc., and bring it to a reputable rebuilder. Assumes no serious engine damage, just wear. Also, as a baseline, assume rebuild to stock specs.

Thanks

If you are just looking to rebuild an engine to stock specs, it will be cheaper to get a Mazda remanufactured engine from Malloy Mazda at just aroun $2000 (with your engine core sent back to them).

My first was a rebuild, cost $3,000

Then 2 years later it developed a water seal leak and grnaded on me.

This time I went for the reman engine.....$2,500

I get my Rex back next week, but not before installing a Delphi water temp gauge.

If you rebuild your existing motor, and nothing is damaged, figure about 1000 for all new seals and gaskets.

i wouldn't go for a rebuild......a reman engine is better. I would opt for one from Malloy Mazda or BNR, preferably BNR is you are looking for high performance, and it will cost ya a lil more.

I think you've got your terminology backwards. Besides, a reman IS a rebuild, just by the mass production company Mazda uses.

alexh1: I suggest you call either Rick at Rick's Rotary in Pleasanton (925-484-2324) for rebuild price or Ivan (do search under West forum for his phone number). They are local rebuilders with great reputations.

I think what he ment was.....instead of having to go through all the trouble of taking apart HIS engine and then having it sent out to a shop/builder, it would be best to just get an engine/block that' s been "over-hauled"..i.e; Reman. Less b/s and labor for the owner and probably a whole lot quicker getting the FD back on the street. Either way..time to let the bejamins go.

my rebuild cost 6300. i wish i had gotten some water passages enlarged. you may want to look into some realiablity mods, but know that their are tons of hidden costs so plan accordingly by having spare $$.

A guy named Adam in Canada. With their exchange rate they have stock rebuilds for $1800. The stuff is mad cheap, and they do really good work. A lot of companies (to whom I am not going to mention names) do get their parts from them, and I'm sure you can guess who these companies are... probably 2 of the biggest rebuilders on the forums. None the less, they do a great job and ADam is a cool guy.
