Cost of Mazda Reman

$1200 ?????????????
$1200 is an awsome price. I have never heard of such a thing.
I just ordered a Mazda Reman. from Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda in Woodbridge, VA. He charges $1950 with your core. Ray was awsome to deal with. He does not charge you for your core up front, he just asks that you return yours within 30 days. Also, he really knows the third gens, and he stocks almost every part under the hood! Overall, I had a VERY good experience with Ray.
Ray's phone number is (703) 490-8170 or (888) 533-3400. I highly recommend them for reman engines, or any other parts for that matter.

I think some of these prices are bullshit.
I seriously doubt you are getting an official Mazda re-man for $1000. Most likely what you are getting is some half-*** rebuilt motor with used parts inside that isn't worth a damn.
I could be wrong but I can't believe that a dealer could get an engine from Mazda for a $1000. I mean even Malloy Mazda charges like $1900 for an engine, I doubt they are marking it up 100%.
The whole problem with the "X-generation" is they go for the absolute lowest price without once considering WHY it's so low. I mean if I have to pay slightly more to support a good vendor, I will.
Bucrx7, you said it: It's too good to be true.

I have to agree. The $1200 price is total BULLSHIT. No need to lie. It cost Mazda more than that to make the damn thing with used parts! I bought two motors from Ray at Malloy Mazda. The last I bought cost me $1950 with my core for exchange.

I called and spoke to Joe, I told him you (Joe with the red rx7) referred me to them and he quoted me a price of $2400. I guess I'm going to Malloy after all.

I've talked with allot of dealers hear in the bay area and have found pricing ranging from 2000 to 2600. These prices seem really low to me but if someone actually purchases a genuine Mazda reman at these prices and has good luck, I'll get one just to put on the shelf. Hell, I bet you could get a GB together with a boat load of people for $1200.

That's a starting price
Basically that is to rebulid "your" engine. As someone else stated, other parts can be $1,000-$1,500 on top of the rebuilt block. You will also need to ad (expensive)labor which will vary by dealer and can run as high as $2,500. Total cost can be $4,000 to $6,000.
What you should be looking for is what is included. What parts do they replace, rebuild, not even touch, etc. Warranty differences. Time frame for rebuild.

Hey, I went to Malloy on Friday. Ray Crowe is a really cool guy to talk with. He always stock at least 5 motors and always demand from his supplier that the motors come with new rotors and housing. He told me due to his volume pricing, he can do this whereas other dealers can't. From other postings, I think he sells like over 50 motors a year. All without advertising thanks to the forum. $1950 with $900 core charge.

i'm getting closer to thinking i need a reman and the MazdaCity dealership quoted my 2200$ with a 1000$ core exchange.. so 2200$ if i give them my old motor.. thats a lot of money still... guess i need to go there for the 1200$ deal? i'm getting closer to needing a motor i think... starting to get worried

yea Pete, i went to MazdaCity, and basically at the last moment, i got bent over. Basically same quote u got as well, 2200 with the core. 1k for labor, so im just going to stick to my original plan and drive the car up to NC in November for the "big balboski."

best thing to do is get a job at the Dealership..
Thats what I did. Trust me, you would not believe what
dealerships pay for most parts. There really is no set
price. The shop forman gets a large portion of the profit
on parts sales, so its easy to see why there is so much BS involved. Its not un common for them to mark stuff
up 100+ percent if they think you will pay for it.
I do though find it hard to believe you could obtain a remain for 1200.00. Im the log manager at my
Dealer ship so it shouldnt be a problem to look up the
actual price. Ill do it first thing monday mourn..
