Cooling Advice for someone keep twins
#28
For your intended use of the car IMO the stock dual oil coolers are fine. If you were making it a track monster then yeah...go bigger. But for an autocross/street car with an otherwise decent cooling system they're fine. Just clean them and straighten the fins if necessary.
What the others said about a hi-flow cat being enough to avoid creep. Again, IMO, I actually think it sounds better with a cat than w/o. And the other often overlooked bennie of keeping a cat is you avoid the stench. I DISGREE with whoever essentially said "if you don't have creep now don't worry about it". From what I understand creep is unpredictable. One day for whatever reason you go WOT and get it. And it's hard to react in time. IMO either port the wastegate (if it isn't already ported with the BNRs) or keep some restriction.

The more I research the more money I want to spend playing with my car. uggg, this really isn't any cheaper of a hobby then flying.
Thanks for all the help guys. I think this is the direction I'm thinking to go:
Install new radiator this summer
Install Boost Controller to help with Peak
Try to get a used Bonez cat and put in to avoid creapy creep
After rebuild this winter by Banzai:
Possibly buy a ASP intercooler and ducting from another local member looking to upgrade or Go with Pettit Racing Setup
Port my new turbos (research more on the BNRs as I've heard lots of good and bad things about them)
Dyno Tune for bragging rights
Drive her hard like Mazda wanted me to!

I agree gracer. I'm actually not trying to mod for power this year. This year I'm just trying to go through all the reliability mods such as Downpipe/Radiator upgrade/new hoses/boost and water gauge/etc. I also had to replace the clutch, tires, brakes, and rear bushings.
The intercooler is more for next year for when I do plan to tune for some power I'm in the planning stages now. The mid pipe was just because my stock cat didn't fit after the down pipe and I decided to see how it sounded. But, I'll get a high flow cat to play it safe for now. I think after the radiator, the next mod will actually be the vented hood and install my new S5 thermalswitch. I have been able to remember to turn on the parking lights in traffic and keep the temps bellow 105 but till I get that vented hood and radiator I really don't want to autox her and stress her out too much.

Bringing back my old post to say thanks to everyone for your advice and let you know the route I have taken.
I commissioned a new vmount from Rotary Extreme (+10 on customer service btw) that should be here in a few weeks as well as his CAI box. I put on the Bonez High flow cat and saw the boost creep disappear. I also felt the drop in ponies, but reliability before power is the name of the game. I'm still running on the base tune for my power FC. My plans for this winter are to install the vmount/cia/pull my injects and have the cleaned and secondaries bored out to 1200cc. Install the Denso pump I purchased. Install my AZeKnight Solenoids and do a vacuum simplification/replacement, clean my oil coolers and finally go get a pro tune this spring.
After that, I will cool off on the mods/changes and start saving for a future rebuild and set of BNRs. I saw a set for sale a while back that I should have jumped on. I'll post back in a few months when all is installed on my results.
Thanks again guys!
