Coolant sensors ... how many?
I'm putting the finishing touches on my car that was stripped a couple of years ago ... after school, having no money, and being on the other side of the state from it. I have one sensor for the water pump neck ... the thermosensor. I have two holes that I've plugged with bolts -- one is for the coolant level sensor in the front (according to the FSM) and the other is for what? Is there another sensor on the neck other than the thermosensor and coolant level sensor? I just haven't had time during the day recently to go by a dealer and ask to look at their computer.
I need to acquire a coolant level sensor from someone, by the way.

Where is the exact location of the "other" hole?
There are the following holes: the coolant level sensor on the front of the thermostat housing; a pipe plug in the side of the thermostat housing (used the plug a hole needed for passage machining); a pipe plug on the top of the thermostat housing behind the filler neck hole, also for machining purposes; the upper hole in the back of the thermostat housing, just under the housing to TB coolant line mount, this is for the water thermosensor, the one with the green plug; the lower hole in the back of the thermostat housing, under the thermosensor hole location, this is for the thermoswitch, the one with the black plug. Are you talking about the hole under the thermosensor hole?

I'm pretty sure the extra hole I'm talking about is for the thermoswitch by looking at your post. I have the thermosensor, and the one facing front by all accounts seems to the the coolant level sensor. The one I'm missing is on the back side of the neck and when I didn't have it plugged, it dumped coolant onto the top of my motor. All 3 of the holes I'm talking about are clearly made for a sensor to screw in ... they're all exactly the same size, threaded, with a machined face. I'm 280 miles east of my car, so I can't exactly go pinpoint things right now. The plug colors don't really help me since I don't have the stuff to look at and I haven't seen these things in 3.5 years.
So ... I have the thermosensor in the back ... and another hole in the back. The hole in the front is for the coolant level sensor, which I also need.
So it looks like I need a thermoswitch??

I went to the dealer service dept ... the guy was too dumb for me to talk to. I looked at the computer, but it seemed to be missing this "thermoswitch."

Have them look in section 3H. This is the Body A, switches and relays section. I'm fairly sure the thermoswitch is part 18-840C, No.2, which is an NF02-18-840. The other two temp sensors, F202-18-840A and N370-18-840, are actual resistive sensors. these go in the position above the one you are talking about and in the fuel rail, respectively.

Hey thanks a ton, spurvo. I'll go by on Monday and see what I can come up with.
I was wondering why no one else had any help to offer ... either people just don't like me or few people can actually help since this isn't something everyone can just read off of some website or Import Tuner.

I know this is a very old thread, but I thought I would revive it since I believe one of these sensors is why my car will not start easily unless the car is fully warmed up. The car will also hunt at idle but not sure if that is a related problem. Which of these 3 sensors would most likey cause this problem.
