Comparing clutch pedal stiffness?

Hey when I used to have the 1st gen I had a center force clutch system in it and the pedal was very stiff and I love it. Anyhow time have change and I got fds and I installed a act street/strip clutch system in my fds this past winter. Act claim that the clutch increase 40 % in pedal feel but it feel like the stock clutch to me it's not stiff at all how can I get it stiff replace the pressure plate? or the disc? What type clutch would make my pedal stiff? I ******* waste my money on the act.

Which pressure plate did you get?

I just got an ACT street/strip clutch with the HD pressure plate. The clamping force is advertised as 40% higher than stock. However, the pedal force required to disengage the clutch is only supposed to be about 15% higher.

Why do you want to have a super stiff pedal?
If your pressure plate is holding the power you are making why not just enjoy the easy to actuate pedal?

I don't think you wasted your money just because the pedal is not super stiff. However, if you are not happy with the holding power of the pressure plate then that is a different story.

There are definetly higher clamping force pressure plates available. SR has one thats 100% increase over stock. Pressure plates like that will certianly cause an increase in your pedal stiffness, compared to what it is now.

one question...does stiffer clutch pedal = shorter clutch pedal travel, in most cases??

the 3rd gens have a hydraulic clutch system. Do the 1st gens have one too? If not, that would be your explanation right there.

Also, whether or not your clutch system is properly bled and contains fresh hydraulic fluid makes quite a difference too.

But Lunar7 is right, if your clutch is able to transmit the power and has some feedback as to the engagement point, I don't see why you'd necessarily want a super stiff clutch pedal... the 2000 M5 puts out over 350lbs/ft of torque and the clutch in that car is feather light.

I also have the street/strip clutch disc / HD-pressure plate combo and its only a little stiffer than stock. If its a lot stiffer I'd definitely try bleeding the brake/clutch system.

Hey thanks for a little info, but I did bleed the clutch and change the hose to a ss hose and also I have the 40% claming force pressure plate. I like my clutch to be stiffer than a normal stock feel and it does grab faster I think it's like 1 1/2 off the flooring if it's siffer.
