To the community.
I have been a member of this board for a few years now. I joined just before purchasing my first RX-7, a 90 GTUs. I love the car, but I was young, in highschool even, and couldn't afford the repairs that were involved and with getting it running again, only to be sabotaged by the mechanic. I was forced to sell the vehicle and always regretted it. I went on a couple years with an efficient Honda but always missing the "Spirit" of driving. I've worked my way into the Management of my store and I am on the verge of getting my own store. I purchased myself a VR 93 Touring as reward for my hard work. This vehicle is sentimental to me, my Father loved this car, and admired it on TV and in the magazines, these and Celicas. I grew up loving this vehicle from age 4, and to finally own one just feels like a dream. I've seen some members post how they have a feeling when they sit in the car, start it up and just hear it purr, personally all I have to do is see it, and I get a little giddy. Some days it doesn't feel real to be driving this daily. I drive my fiances Mazda 3 and I really get to appreciate the joy and "Spirit" of driving, granted it's fun, but it's no 7. I guess the purpose of this post is just to say that I really hope to become a part of this community and especially be involved with the Southeastern RX7 community. I don't know about Deals Gap this year, but next year is a guarantee. I'm so excited to get to know you all, and really get to enjoy driving the Legend with you all. I also have the Workshop Manual for a 1993 RX-7, or as I call it the "Teal Bible".

Theorie I really want to meet you as a matter of fact, you're located in Orlando some of the year (So a little birdie tells me, cough stalker) and I'd really like to meet up with you and see the monster that you call a 7.

Nice!
I remember how excited I was to pick up my first 7 and then how much I missed it after I let it go. I now have another and all of the driving spirit is back. It's a bit like discovering an old friend.
I say that having owned a 335i, FX35, and a GTO in the interim.

Daily drive it. Life is short and if you can read and have tools you can repair/replace and maintaine as needed. This forum is great and the for sale section is a great aid if you don't want to pay "Ray's" price (in my case it was an ABS pump-Ouch). Drive the wheels of it and then buy new ones.

Welcome. I think I know a little how you feel. I started with an FC and I'd see the FD guys come to the car meets and I was like there is no way I'll ever have one of those. I never imagined it, it was right next to owning a super car.

Well, I didn't mention this, but I'm the Service Manager of Firestone, so repairs on this will all be made by me, in my shop, and the thing is I get to use the shop for 25$ an hour, +10% cost on parts, access to lifts and all tools, I get mazda parts oe at 5% over cost. I've kinda got it made, and I feel like I'm in the area where there are more than a few exceptional shops. I'm truly blessed and I can't wait to drive it, and possibly weekend warrior it. I'll be slapping some Enkie RPF1 17x8 all around 245/40R17 91Y Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position (Which I get half off!) and I'm considering HR Springs with the Tokico HTS all the way around. Since it's still my daily (until I get a beater and I can't start bigger projects, single swap possibly) I can't wait to get together, and especially at DGRR in the coming years.

17x9 +45? I wanted somewhat of a flush look, not with an excessive dish on it. I was looking at the 17x9 but I wasn't able to find them in black on Tirerack (I also get a discount through them). A 17x9 +45 with a 73mm bore should work right? And as far as the Michelin... I can't do it. I work for Firestone, Bridgestone strokes the check weekly so I'll be using Bridgestone. Plus how would it look to run another company's tires when I'm trying to sell the value/performance of ours. 255/40R17 94Y is an available size in the S-04 Pole Position, and if you ever get a chance to check them out, they're very wide tires, not like Federals, which run a size larger, but a 205 looks more like a 215 and so on and so on.

its good to see another firestone service manager on the boards. im also a service manager for a store out in california. you cant go wrong with the s04 but if your not driving the fd that much i say run the RE 11's we get 50% off those as well

I was going to sake the stock rims and run RE11s on those are my true track rims. This is still my daily, and I only work 5 miles from home so it was either the RE11s or the S-04, I ordered some S-04s in to take a look at them and I fell in love.

. In all seriousness, this forum is an ocean of information. Please use it. The "search" button is your best friend. Using the "titles only" tab will help when doing so as well. So before you make purchases, or assume you are going a certain direction with your car, search around. You will learn so very much by seeing other people's opinions, and progress. GoodFella knows what's up!! FD's have pretty deep fender wells. RPF1's are an excellent choice. As a reference I run the following and still maintain a flush look.
Front - 9" wide 47mm offset with 265/35/18's tires
Rear- 10" wide 43mm offset with 285/30/18's tires

Yea for the last couple of weeks I've been lurking on the forums, learning different tactics and methods people have used on different builds, some of the + and - of going single. Lurking on theories page, the usual. I actually had been considering some gram lights before I finally decided on a budget for the rims and tires and that RPF1s were the best option for price/performance. I have decided on the RE-11s as my tires, for the simple fact that Florida roads get insanely hot and those tires were modeled after the Indy tires that Bridgestone produces. I've used them before on an S2000 (not mine) and they hook up very well. I took it a little bit further and called one of my vendors to ask him his personal feelings comparing the S-04s, RE-11 and the Mich Super Sports and he told me that he prefers to RE11s and that those are what he uses on his track car and that the Super Sports are amazing tires as well, they just don't hold up as well. I really do appreciate all the input and help. I need to stop being lazy and start my build thread.

I want to go to Deals this year, but with the wedding coming up in May, and Michigan plays Alabama on September 1st, it doesn't leave too much more time for vacation to do the other fun things. I do have a question though, how many people tow their 7s up there? Do a lot just drive in?

Im not going to lie.... its a LOOOooOoOOOng Drive... but lots of fun.
Its almost the only positive reason to own a rotary!

Quick question, how many people on the forums bring wives? It may be a great way to convince her to go on another road trip in the 7. The last one had us stuck in traffic, 25 cars back from a semi truck fire/fatality, 5 hours later we moved, and I kept the car on the whole time, ran like a top there and back (had to back down from a race involving an sti because the car was loaded and she was with me, and I'm uber safe when she's along). Every morning I let it idle for ~4 minutes before I drive and take it very easy on the car until I see coolant get to 85 or so then I
drive as normal. That drive to 85 degrees takes all of 3 minutes which it takes to get out of my neighborhood. And my normal isn't much more than 65 lol. I see people on here saying they wot every day, I'm beginning to think I need to more often than once a week. I've been reading and have seen a bottle of marvel mystery oil a month can be a great addition, I'm beginning to think I should use that too. Right now she sips on 93 octance shell every time.
