Cog/Gilmer Belt Drive for FD - Thoughts?

Helps to know the manufactures of the parts you have.
You can tell me who made your turbo, manifold, exhaust, rims, rear end,tires..
But you don't know who made your belt?? This helps to reference parts needed just like any other part.
Most all cog/gilmer and serpentine belts are made by Gates rubber company...some by Good year.
It's all about personal preference.

Mazdatrix sells a kit, scroll down to bottom of page (or control+f "cog"): http://mazdatrix.com/engpartrace.htm
It looks like you have to do some modification to make it fit FD's.

Again, this is fixing a problem that doesn't exist. Prove to me that this is a problem, otherwise this whole thread is pointless. With an idler pulley you get plenty of belt engagement on the water pump.

They don't specify that you'd need a whole different water pump - the FD's water pump turns reverse of the FC/FB water pumps.

yes an idler kit is the only real way to overcome the tiny surface area of the belt-on-pulley issue of removing the smog pump.
