clutch question!
so this has been going on for awhile and i would like to know what the problem is.
my clutch used to engage as soon as i touched it but not anymore...
here is the problem:
my clutch will not engage until its practically pushed to the floor, there are like 5 inches of play in the clutch.
now the clutch is less than 2 years old so i cant see it being the clutch, i was wondering if maybe its either the master or slave cylinder, or if the clutch just needs to be bled?
its a pain and i've been driving with this problem for a bit.
hopefully someone has had a similar problem and can tell me exactly what i need to know.
anything will help thanks

One common problem is a cracked clutch fork. Remove the inspection covers on the bellhousing and have someone work the clutch. Hopefully you'll be able to see it bending or not moving.
There is also the clutch master/slave.
Last, you could have damage to the clutch pressure plate. Then you'd see things moving through the bellhousing but the clutch will still be dragging.
I suggest that if you don't have the stuff to lower a transmission that you just take it to a good transmission/clutch shop and let them figure it out. Make sure they know it's a pull clutch with a fork that sometimes breaks.

Check your clutch pedal bracket for cracks as well. I'm working on a Skyline with a broken clutch pedal bracket, all the welds snapped and there was a lot of play and the pedal would be able to move side to side. Only when it's right down to the floor it will engage.
Make sure you have a light because it's tight back there and inspect the bracket for any cracks, or broken welds.
