clunk when turning and braking?

when Im braking hard, I dont hear anything....but at about half pressure to nearly no pressure on the pedal however, there is a "clunk" or "clank" sound commin from (I think) the front of the car. It also makes the same noise sometimes turning right and right only, when going at parking lot speeds, in addition to a farting sound, most positively tire rub. Ive got 17's on. Bothersome.
I was reading that this could be the lower A arm? anyone have pics if it is? Is this gonna screw my handling? cuz normal driving on freeways and taking turns fast doesnt seem to be compromised, however, I dont know what the car drives like if this problem were to be fixed. Any input to this problem would be appreciated. Thanks

Just a noob question here, but could this be the Torsen Limited slip?

I think I hear the same thing as you do.
I hear a clunk sound when I come to a stop or when I turn the wheel at low speed or not moving. It's coming from the front driver side.
Last time something like that happenend on the front passenger side, I had to replace the control arm....

Good post! I've got that clunk too. I feel as if something is shifting in the car and i think it might be corresponding with my shifting problems. It's like the tranny shifts out of whack or something and only by shifting back and fourth between 3rd and 4th while stopped for instance gets it shifting smoothly again. When I accelerate again it shifts out of whack again and the shifting is rough again. I thought it was a motor mount, but I checked them and I think they are ok. Maybe it's a tranny mount or the ppf?

I have a feeling it may be your bushings. The front suspension bushings in my car is worn so it's making the same clunking sound when I brake and turn at parking lot speeds. I have an R1 that I drive pretty hard so I'm looking into some aftermarket bushings.

How do you know it is the bushings?

Mine is a base so I don't know about the r1 theory.

I just fixed the EXACT same noise on my car that I heard from the passenger side. I tried replacing the upper A-arm and took off the sway bar and replaced the bushings on it. I then replaced the lower passenger side A-arm and had the car aligned. No more noise. Also cured a little rubbing I was having. For my car, it was one of two things.

1) Bad lower A-arm bushings
2) The camber adjustment bolts that go through the lower A-arm bushings may have been loose. Spec is to 100 ft-lbs and a quick fix might be to check the torque on the bolts. I have a feeling that alignment techs are afraid to torque them that much because I had to specifically ask the guy to do it and he thought it was too much.

Mine also clunks in the rear...the guys who checked the car over before I bought it said it was the rear bushings...I have yet to replace them...I am wanting to use the polyeurathane (sp) bushings cuz they say they are stronger...any thoughts on this? maybe where to get them?

Thanks

toe links and trailing arms maybe.....
i have the same clunking sound and i heard if you change you tow links & trailing arms you don't hear that sound anymore PLUS it helps your launch by eliminating wheelspin... that's just what i heard...

J/W...do you have an upper-front strut bar? If so, check to make sure it's tightened. I had a friend who couldn't find a clunking noise until he noticed one of the bolts on his strut bar was backed off.

on my car the noisy bushings are the rear lower a-arm bushings. i've thought about just replacing those, but it's a lot of work when realistically all of the bushings should be replaced. cheapest full set of bushings that i know if is jimlab's (N-Tech), a steal at roughly $650.

does anyone know if there are any that are cheaper?
