Carbon Creations C2 Font Bumper

First of all thanks for reading, hopefully you can help me out here.

I have a Carbon Creations C2 Front bumper, built into the bumper are some lights, originally when I got the car these lights weren’t working, not sure why, I can only guess the guy couldn’t be bothered.

So my question is, can I remove the standard lights and legally be ok with the lights that are in the bumper, there is NO full beam to my knowledge but is this a legal requirement and if it is could I retro fit a full beam light into it?

I could then use the old light housings as air intake points… that’s the plan.

You're an Aussie!

Which state is the car registered in?

The Carbon Creations C2 bumper only has amber turn signal (flashing indicator) lights built into it.

These MUST work in order to be road legal in Australia (all states). They must flash when the indicator lever behind steering wheel is flicked left or right.

Also incorporated in these light housings are park lights. These MUST come on when the indicator stalk end is twisted 1 click to park lights, or 2 clicks to Lights On.
If these do not illuminate, the car is not road legal and you may get issued with a defect.

NOTE that these lights in the bumper will not/cannot replace headlights. They are mounted too low, and do not meet Australian ADR rules for height, nor do they have the correct reflector housings or any high beam built in.

You must use your normal headlights for night driving. Not the front bumper lights

if you modify the bumper lights to become headlights, expect a hefty fine. They are mounted too low, have incorrect reflector geometry, and will not take the heat that a high beam emits. Not to mention the wiring size and fusing down there is not enough to cope with a set of headlight wattage bulbs. You will also run the risk of blinding oncoming traffic. To be legal in any state of Australia, you must use the flip up stock headlights, or run the risk of car defected by a transport inspector/police and put off the road until you fix it.

No FD ever used the bumper indicator lights as headlights, and I hope you dont consider doing it

You could use the bumper indicator lights as intakes, but then you still have illegal issues- you wont have front indicators or park lights, which means it wont be roadworthy.

If you're that set on using an air intake at the front of the car, just plumb the intake down to where the intercooler grille is in the front bumper, and take cool air from there.

Or if you still have a factory airbox, do the "cheap bastard" air intake mod by AdamC (search the forums, you'll find it).

Basically to be road legal in WA, all the factory positioned lights (headlights/front park lights/front indicators) have to remain in their stock location and be fully operational and non-modified
