ive never tore down this tranny before. has this happened to anyone yet? she shifts into all the other gears. i had a friend push the car and i tried to shift but its not budging. is there a reverse block in the tranny?

 

Probably a piece of metal blocking reverse gear shifter inside the tranny. Perfect opportunity to change 5th synchro.

 

is there a tranny rebuild kit out there?

 

I had the same problem, I looked into rebuilding the tranny but for me it was considerably cheaper to buy a JDM, it was roughly half the price. PM Japan2LA he has great prices and shipping if you are considering replacing it.

Replace it.. with a low mile Jspec trans with the better 5th gear..
