Car computer on the FD
Has anyone ever installed a car computer on the FD? Tried searching didn't find anything on this. If anyone know where there is a picture of existing setups I would love to see how others have put it together.
I am gathering parts to put together a system for my car. When completed it will perform 3 major functions.
First and for most will be the AEM software, this will allow me real time access to all my sensors, controls, fuel map, ignition map, idle etc.
Second, I'll be able to play DVDs, MP3s etc.
Third, it can be used as a GPS.
It will be setup with a 7" touch screen high resolution LCD (1600x1200, wide screen), which can be tucked away on the passenger side. The system itself will be mounted on the speaker box (the physical size is slightly larger than DIN), running Windows XP Pro. It has 2 USB, 1 firewire, 1 serial, 1 parallel, 1 VGA, 1 RJ45 network, 2 ps2 connectors. 40Gb HDD, DVD ROM, 512 MB ram.

I am doing a setup somewhat like this.
I am using a LanParty Motherboard with AMD 64 Chip, Running 1 Gig of Ram, 300 Gig Hard drive, Soundblaster 64 Bit Card ( 6 Outputs) FM card, Geforce 4 Card w/256mb of Ram,Wireless card. ALL WILL BE LIQUID COOLED, do to the fact that the bass from the subs will hurt the hard drive, i am going to rap it with foam with a heat sink to pull the heat out.
It will be doing a few things
It will be a Real Time DataLogger, Temp(Water,Oil,Exh,Intake Air) Boost, Oil Pressure, A/F Ratio-Using WinDaq to get the signals
It will be the Radio/MP3/DVD player, 7 1/2 inch Screen that retracks into the dash, Using a touch pad mouse that is in the ash tray(Moded to Fit Perfect) and a DVD-RW in the dash for movies that i will not have on the hard drive stored.
Then the sound card like i said, has 6 outputs
Left-Front-----\
Right-Front----\
> One 4ch Amp(One input per channel)(Balance everthing perfect)
Left-Rear------ /
Right-Rear----/
Subwoofer Output ------- 1200Watt Mono Amp- Powering 2-10in Kicker LS7( The badast subs EVER)
Center Channel will not be used
THIS WILL BE THE BADDEST SETUP EVER....... @ least ina 3rd gen
Also will be able to surf the web when there is a W-lan'ed around
