Car backfires horribly...loses all power
ok, so my car was fine one day and then later that night something horrible happened. At idle my car is 100% fine. Then when i tried to drive it home it would lose all power around 2500-3000rpm and if i tried to continue accelleration it would backfire excessively like it has a limiter set at that rpm range. What could be the problem? I have no clue at this point, my best guess is some computer tuning issue, but what has me confused beyond belief is how it happened so suddenly.
as for modifications..... im running with an apex power fc for management, also.... stock engine, 15,000 miles...intake, 3in downpipe, centerpipe, and catback. brand new stock spec spark plugs. fluidyne radiator, fluidyne oil cooler, greddy front mount intercooler, new stock injectors, walbro fuel pump....
any help would be greatly appreciated...

Check to see if you have power under partial throttle and no power under full throttle. If this happens then the problem is your secondary throttle body not opening. This canether be a bady soleniod or vacume line. What happens is that the computer sends a signal to open the secondary throttle body buterflies and them adds extra fuel for the extra air, but since there is not extra air the engine starts to flood.

well i dont have power regarless of throttle position if i just let it creep up to 2500-3000 it cuts out.... or if i give it full throttle...i havent checked the line to the map sensor, or reset the ecu.. unless by that you mean disconecting the battery.. i checked the plugs also, they seemed to smell somewhat like fuel, possibly more than a plug should....hopefully i can figure this out soon, startin to get rotary seperation anxiety.. i miss that un-catalyzed exhaust smell in the morning, after all the best part of wakin up is carbon in my lungs...

I would agrre with you if your reffering to the double throttle plates in the UIM as they are controlled by a solenoid and there is a check valve that can fail. The secondary throttle plates in the TB are mechaniacally opened and are not controlled by the ECU.
