Can't seem to fix rough idle
Hey there, I am having a tough time trying to figure out what is wrong with my car. It is running very rough, and has a very bad idle. It gets worse as the car is warming up, and gets to the point where it is very hard to keep running while driving around town. I have my TPS perfectly adjusted, adjusted my air screw, check my coils and spark and they are also perfect. I replaced my plugs, and ran seafoam through it and nothing seems to work. I pulled the plugs after running it for a while the other day and they all came out clean, so they are all firing. It worked for a couple days this spring and started to get progressively worse until I decided to park it until I could get it fixed. The car has 112000km on it and I don't know whether it has been rebuilt before and I am hoping its not in need for a rebuild, but that is definitely not out of the question. Mods I have done to the car include a tuned PowerFC, intake, straight exhaust, Ultra m.d.i. ignition, fmic, and a bunch of standard upgrades. Any help would really be appreciated, I only want to pull the engine as a last resort. Thanks a lot.

Just do a compression test and that'll tell you what the health of the engine is.
Test the map sensor as that can cause those problems if it's going bad.
Also might want to check around all the vacuum lines for air leaks

That's a lot of mods for your PFC if untuned, and a straight exhause with the stock turbos and internal wastegate can be no bueno for boost control.
what is the car idling at, and what does your commander tell you for vacuum? also, does the needle on the boost gauge tick back and forth at idle?

I tried showing what the car was doing on my commander but it didn't show up in the video. When cold it idles around 950rpm, and when warm it drops down to about 650. For vacuum its doing -380 to -410mmhg cold and when its idling my boost gauge seems to bounce with the revs ever so slightly at -.5bar. Also what seemed weird is that I can't seem to make more then .5bar boost (7.25psi) when I am supposed to be at 12psi, which would be just a bit under 1bar. My car was tuned two years ago at a very good local shop, and they did tune it for a 12-10-12psi boost pattern. I am going to pick up a compression tester tonight yet and see what that shows.

Went and bought a compression tester after work today, the rear rotor shows perfect 90psi pulses but the front one was 5-5-90psi. Guess the problem is inside the engine and we'll be pulling her out soon. Just wondering what the next steps would be at this point. Thanks

Yeah thats what I was thinking, while I had it out its a great opportunity to change some things. I am really considering porting it, do you know of any good shops? I live in Manitoba but I mean I'll ship my engine anywhere, I don't want a cheap job done. I don't see this as a bad thing, its an excuse to spend a lot of money and make some more power

My shop is in NJ, and we specialize in porting FD engines. Check the link in my sig for some rebuild and portwork pictures, and if you PM me your email address I can send you some pictures of two engines that I ported this week
