Can I expect boost creep with these mods?
I was thinking of going with an intake, M2 big SMIC, and a downpipe. Can I expect boost creep with these mods? I know the rule is supposedly anymore than 2 mods to the intake/exhaust and it's time for an ECU to compensate fuel for the boost creep, but my question is does the Intercooler count as a mod to the intake?
TIA

If you can keep your boost to 10 psi, it doesn't matter. Usualy when you mod your car with airflow mods...your car tends to spike, etc. So hence your question. IN my opinion you did this backwards. You should get the ECU before or the same time as the IC. You have no way to control your boost, so if you dont want to get an ECU, get a boost controller and your fine. you NEED one or the other.
I would get the power fc as it has a boost control function and is plug and play.

You could try adding a home made boost control setup to the equation .. eliminates any spikes or creep ..

i dont think boost creep will really be an issue since you have the stock cat, but the fact that you will now be leaning out the A/F ratios. no matter how you look at this situation, A/F ratios will get leaner, more power will be made, and you risk a chance of popping the engine. the three mod rule is just a median of most cars, not a set rule. after three mods i saw 10lbs of boost go to 12lbs(apexi intake, hks DP and RB dual tip). my next mod was a PFC and it fixed it. went with a MP and its back. i was forced to go with a restictor plate that is holding strong at 10psi, when set at 10. i hope this makes sense. its not a creep that should be an issue(even though a creep will allow the engine to run lean just long enough to pop it), but its the overall picture of running lean all the time.
next, is the large M2 really neccesary? in most to all cases, no. the medium holds up just well, as shown by maxcooper. the large is longer and will have more pressure drop, making the stock turbos run damn hard, and hot to attain the same boost. relocation of the battery is a must, or shrinking to the hawker. then again, im sure the bunnies think bigger is better when looking at the M2. you can tell them that the "medium" M2 is more efficent

I'm running: Blitz Intake, DP, MP, HKS Super Drager muff, Greddy IC hard pipes and STOCK ECU. Boosting 10-7-10 WOT with no problems (YET!!)

Holy crap that's nearing the edge right there with the MP. And even more amazing that you're still holding at 10psi. Do you plan to get an ECU or BC sometime soon?

as i open a fortune cookie i read, "a new engine is in your future". like i stated, its not creep that is an issue in my opinion its the fact that you can run really lean without spiking. more air and cooler air means dense charge. more air + same fuel = leaner mixture. kyle, i think you are safe AreXSeven, Are you crazy???
now for the M2 large vs Medium...do you plan on staying stock twins or going with a single. if you dont have any plans on getting a single then the large is just a waste. sure its the same price but it does require the reloaction of the battery. reloacting the battery makes it a bitch if you drag race, as you have to meet some rules that i am unclear of. autoX should be fine with it but upgrading to a dry cell would be smart. then you still need a battery box, or lose one of your bins.
last option is probably the best...i dont want to block the radiator but a custom ducting can be made. id be willing to play with a custom ducting for this. check out the price and see what the difference is by not having to buy a greddy elbow, relocate the battery...

i will be getting that when i can sort out my cooling gremlins right now.
you can PM me also if you have any questions. that man is an hour or so from me, but very awesome

Well man I'm really confused!!! I thought that as long as you don't boost too much above 10 (10 to 12), that my FD would perform and function great without having to worry about "acute engine failure".
I also thougt that the stock ECU would give me fair warning (fuel cut, - hence; loss of acceleration) when the ECU was reaching it's stock programmed limit at WOT. What am I missing here?? I think I'll just sell my FD and buy a Yugo!!.

mmmmmmm, yugo with 20B motor.
keep the car and just learn to upgrade accordingly. we are just giving you fair warning that people have popped motors with much less. dont risk it. the cars are very nit pickey and everyone will vouch for that. hell i just snapped my PPF. its fixed now, but im curious as to what will break next. these are old cars, just keep the maintained

STOP WHORING MY THREAD!!!
suprfast, I'm not going single (not in the grand scheme of things anyway), but I am going with upgraded twins. I have no problem with relocating the battery.
