VA A/C Condensor Mounting Brackets for FMIC setup

Hey I'm halfway through my build up and am in need of some ideas from people running FMIC setups w/Aftermarket Rads and retaining A/C. How are you guys mounting the A/C Condenser and where exactly (Between IC and Rad or after Rad)?

If you could please post pictures of your brackets or even have suggestions on where I can acquire some (to relieve me some headache) that be even better.

Either way please post pics if have some and other related info (Bends, material used etc..) TIA

I Left a gap between the IC and the Rad for the condensor.

You really don't want it before the IC and not after the rad.

Before it will heat soak/bock air to the IC and you need the rad fan to pull air through it.

Here are some pics of what I did (there is a small bar that is on bushings to keep them seperated)

Unfortunately I had to mount it about 1inch lower than I wanted.

This was due to the IC that i used.

I put rubber groumets to cousion the radiator (you can get them ad adavanced/autozone etc).

To mount the brackets i just drilled and tapped 3 screws on each..... that is more than enough to keep the radiator in there.

The mounts are just made of normal angle iron welded to a flat piece of metal.

I plan to run an after market condensor and lines (increase the size of condensor to optimized the extra space).

I plan on mounting the condensor in a similar way as I did the rad.

I will put a bit of weather stripping so that the fan will pull air through all 3 cores.... I'll have to see how this works

I feel your pain and it's not an easy job to accomplish.

It took me a while and I have tried different configurations. For this FMIC Apexi had the condensor almost horizontal in the engine bay and not infront of a fan.

It got really hot and the A/C never worked very good so I decieded to incoorporate the condensor with my Rad upgrade.

That radiator is very thick and comes no where near to mounting in stock locations.

People who want a cheap radiator for stock locations do not buy the CX racing......

It ended up working out good for me since I had to build the brackets anywya.....

The FMIC I have is a GReddy, the previous owner did not re-install the ac so this winter I am reinstalling it. I had to find the manual for the original GReddy install directions and found out that the mounting brackets should have been included with the installation kit. So I got ahold of a GReddy retailer and special ordered them up. It was a little over 120 dollars to buy the 4 brackets I needed, but it will look OEM and fit perfect.

I did attempted to make some brackets out of random pieces of scrap metal and it looks like something some hill-billy would install. Not good at all, I was very releaved to find out that GReddy thought all this through.

You may want to find out if your FMIC came with the bracketry origianally and get those ordered up. Plug and play. Good luck!

Hah yeah Im a prob use that for mock up but its looking like Im a just have to "Hack up" something out of all the scrap aluminum I have laying around. Found some pics of the Greddy and Apexi (which i have) brackets and they both look to be some slightly angled 15-30 degree pieces of Al

<-- Ignorance is bliss

I'm hoping there is too much modifying needed to the brackets, but it is a good place to start. Good luck hacking.
