Buying a RX7

Buying a RX7
I am thinking of buying a 1993 Mazda Rx7 for $9,000
it has about 107,000 miles on it, is that a good deal, or should I spend alittle more and get one with less miles? how reliable is the wankel engine with high miles?
By the way since this is my first post I will let you know more about me... .I have a 1996 avenger (fullly modded) and a 1988 crx si (a little modded) I really want a supra but there is no way I am touching the price of those cars.
Thanks,
Eric

are you serious? how many miles do you have on your car?
thanks...
I really like supras and rx7's I just want something fast and looks cool, and has not too much matinence, because I am going to school and I already have 2 cars.
Thanks,
Eric

RX7's are daily drivers for some on the forum including myself. There are reliablity mods you can do immediately to avoid problems down the road.
Silicone Hose replacement $118, performance Radiator $340, Downpipe $240.
9K isn't a bad price as long as it's not an automatic and it has good compression on all rotor faces.
If you love the RX7 Stock buy a low milage car.
If you plan to barely mod it buy a low to middle milage car.
If you plan to wildly mod it buy a high milage car because you are going to replace everything anyway.
Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Then a Rx-7 isnt for you, The rotary's are the biggest PITA ever, most blow up at what 80,000 miles? save to get the supra they are easy to maintain but have terrible traction. but if you want to get the rx-7 goto lightning in a world of thunder website (i forget the real name scunderie or something racing) and look at the maintnence posts. Goodluck whatever you do

You are not exactly living in the land of well known FD shops, which is probably one of the reasons the current owner is selling so cheap.
I would advise moving on.

i would agree with rynberg, but in a way i don't want to because based on your requirements/limited maintenance income, i'm pretty sure you'll be parting out the car or selling it really cheap after it detonates and i could use some cheap parts.
and by the way, why not do like the sticky says and do a search. this has been discussed maybe 3 million times on this board.

...or a wagon with some mules.
I am in the same boat as you. I would go with a low mileage car and do the safety mods on it and then start putting away some cash for that day that will come up when you need a new engine.
