im getting it rather cheap from california and it seems a bit odd, the guy however wants to deal through ebaymotors which seems legit because if the car doesnt arrive then they get my money back. Also if it turns up stolen, or i am not happy with it, ect, then i can send it right back

I don't think dealing through eBay really guarantees anything. You would be better off going through an escrow service. Good luck though.

Ask them if your friend in CA can check it out for you. Can you speak to them on a phone?

If it seems too good to be true, then it probably is.

Be sure to read all of eBay's fine print...they have TONS AND TONS of ways to get out of honoring their seller and buyer protection guarantees.

I don't, I've never used one. Ebay has a few they recommend so you might look there.

i would do what he says you live in canada and it snows there you dont want to drive one of these cars in the snow. thats just asking for trouble. get something to learn with. i wont lie im 17 i own a highly modified FD and i love it but i also have a DD because when the road isnt dry she stays inside, not to mention when she needs work. get something basic and enjoy it for a year or so and then decide if your ready to get a FD.

how do you really know how bad anything is by a number?
EDIT
i am 18 in september, I have also been in love with the 1997 - 1999 eclipse gsx for a VERY long time and am considering that too

I ran the carfax on the VIN this morning at home. I was going to reply earlier but the website kept crapping out.

The car spent its first 50,000 miles in VA, then went to FL in 2006. At that point the carfax ends. The carfax doesn't show that it was ever registered in CA.

don't care about the miles? I say, go and buy an Eclipse GSX. You'd do much better with that.

Defiantly a scam. ebaymotors is not an escrow, and they offer no escrow services. They partner with some escrow services, but they them selves are not one. Pretty much anyone says they want to deal through ebaymotors and you aren't buying it off an ebay auction, is a scammer.

http://pages.motors.ebay.com/buy/how...hase-tips.html
Always complete your vehicle purchase on eBay Motors (by placing a bid, buying through Buy It Now, or making a Best Offer). If you complete the transaction off of eBay Motors, you won’t be eligible for any protection programs.

A quick google for the vin shows a couple other sites offering this car for sale:
http://www.lemonfree.com/17808417.html (It's in florida now??!?!)
and here is what I would assume is the real car and owner selling it on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=180247046094
Matching pictures, and lots more of them. In FLORIDA. Didn't meet its reserve at 10k.
