The build is complete.....for this year. Lots of custom engine work.
I have completed my project for this summer. I have a couple of little things to finish up, but figured I would post a thread to gather some opinions.
I understand that the picture threads are getting moved to the interior / exterior forum, but I think this build could benefit the whole 3rd gen community, and might make a good read.
This build went rather smoothly. I have been gathering parts for over a year and a half. I have changed my mind many times over this time. All in all I am very happy with the outcome.
The last couple of days were rather sleepless. I had a to finish by July 2nd, so I could get it tunned be Steve Kan in STL. I was up from Saturday @ 7:00am till Monday @ 4:00am. I started the car for the first time Sunday morning @ 5:30am, it actually started on the first try after a couple of turns with the igniter disconnected to build oil pressure. Yes, I did have a fire extinguisher handy just in case. Got it on a trailer and left for STL by 10:00am. I got there around 4:00pm and was tunned by 7:30pm. Steve did a great job on the car I had a high idle that he was able to lower to about 1100rpm. I believe I have a bad IAC valve or the throttle plates aren’t closing all the way for some reason. I was making 10psi by 3000 rpm. I was only able to get up to 12psi because of my injectors being at there max. I did manage to get close to 360rwhp. I was getting some arking from the spark plug wires at 7000+rpm. Which the HP and torque started to dip. I will post a picture of the graph, don’t worry. After we pulled the car of the dyno, I decided to drive the car the rest of the trip to Arkansas, for a family vacation. This meant I had to install the headlights, front bumper, undertray, front lip, and raise the front suspension because it was to low for driving on the street. Finished up with this stuff by 10:00pm. Headed to the gas station for a fill up and check tire pressure and fluids. My father left ahead of me with the trailer, so I did have a back up if the car failed me. After leaving the gas station I wanted to show my cousin what it felt like. So I did a second gear pull before I got on the highway. Everything was great till about 7000rpms, when I heard a noise like I hit the rev limiter. The car began to act real strange, the idle vacuum was only at -10/-8. I began to panic. I was sure I popped the motor. I pulled over and relaxed (I was shouting quite a bit of profanity at this point). Popped the hood and checked the Map sensor line, guess what, I blew off the vac line. Reconnected the line and started the car. Vacuum returned to -17/-18 right away, and car began to idle great again. Thanks rx7club, after reading many similar threads about this kind of problem I new what to check first. I then proceeded to drive the car though the night, and arrived safely @ 4:00am. I finally was able to get some needed rest after a crazy 45 hours without sleep. The car did great the rest of the trip. I even brought some mods with me to do while I was there. It was nice to not have pressure and take my time with a nice cold beer at my side. Well I left around 9:00pm Friday and arrived back in IL around 8:00am Saturday. The car ran great with only one miner problem. I lost the two bolts that connected the full exhaust. Pulled over, jacked the car up, the gasket was still there, replaced the bolts, (I had a lot of spare parts and tools) and was on my way.
Alright enough of the story. Now I will list the mods, if I can remember all of them.

Here is a link to a great friend’s mypsace, who with out his help, this project could not have been completed on time. It shows some of the build and his opinion on the project.

Here is a thread I posted, of what the car used to look like before the build.

Hey Brandon, your cars looking really nice. Glad you figured everything out and got it running/tuned. We should cruise sometime, I won't have my car for too long. It's going back into the shop soon.

Looks good!
why'd you go with upgraded rails...but ran out of fuel??
what's with the hyper grounding?? really cheapens the engine bay, imho.
what kind of AIT are you seeing with that IC set-up? I feel like there are lots of gaps for the air to escape
I guess that is a cut out for the track? DAMN!!
Strange way to plumb the fuel...I like it, who made the rail??!!
Good work, inside and out! (I'm a fan of black engine bays, and no pillar gauges)

For a second I could figure out what was going on in this pic
https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...hmentid=184897
I've never seen someone come off the "main path" of the exhaust for the whole system and not the cut out. I'd be interested to see how much pressure gets built up at the bottom of that cut out.
