broken defroster vents, anyone else?

I just noticed the other day that one of the defroster vents on the dash is cracked. It's something I sort of feared would happen given the location and the beating that it takes in the sun, but until recently everything was cool.

Anyone else have this happen? Anyone know how much that part costs to replace? Also, is there a difference between the 93 vent and the 94+ vents? I dunno if there's a texture or fit difference, considering that 93's were smooth texture and had no passenger airbag.

TIA,

Mine has been like that for awhile :-/
I haven't had time to go see how much it would cost new but I'm sure it'll be EXPENSIVE!

Sometimes it's just the little things that bug you, ya know? For me, it's things like this that make the car look cheap and old. Of course, I haven't found out what they cost, so I might buy that catback before I go for the defroster vent, but who knows. Maybe I'll get one off of a fellow FD owner that's wrecked theirs.

Mines not cracked but the far right side of it is poking up, it's annoying when I notice it

SanJoRX7,

What a coincidence...I just replaced both of mine...they had been cracked for a while. The price was $35 a piece from Oak Tree Mazda. It is nice to fix the little things every now and again....

Right Defrost Grill:
FD01-60-780-02 $36.25

Left Defrost Grill:
FD01-60-790-02 $36.25

These are for black grills...I don't think they were a different color for tan interiors, were they?

I agree, once these little things slip the whole car acquires a cheap feeling. I am always surprised at how nice it is to get into a clean un-modded 3rd gen. that's been kept in top shape.

cheers

i agree... looks wise, i like the stock car. with a little drop in height i think it looks awsome. the car my dad got in mint shape, literally. about 9500 miles when he bought it last year. but, some go mods would be nice. hell, a stock car these days is pretty unique in itself. kinda weird when you think about it.

I'm gonna be in Fiji on September 21, so other than that, I'd probably have raced you Actually, I'm not much into dragging. Besides all of my other bullshit excuses, my ride isn't quite ready...it needs a new tranny and some decent tires, among other things.

mine are both broken also - but knowing they are ONLY 36.25ea I just may have to order up a pair. Its worth it to eliminate the agrevation of having to look at them all busted up all the time.

The Side Defroster vents on the doors are cracking up also
