break in question
OK so I just finished my engine. new housings, large street port. power fc, 3" straight pipe, greddy carbon\TI cat back. large side mount, and a PT67 single turbo with a Tial 44mm wastegate. My question is after the PFC does its learing, will i be safe to drive the car, for the breakin period say 1000 miles at Low boost? the other reason i ask is i have the stock fuel set up, just ran out of money but the fuel set up is in the near future. will i be ok to drive it around, what can i do the the commander to make the car more safe to drive and not have to worry about leaning out ??
thanks

I guess if u keep the car on ur lowest boost setting and u dont push the car(just drive normally) u should be ok. But I suggest waiting until u did the full fuel and injector upgrade. After all that work and ur fuel system not made to work with that setup....better to be safe than sorry. I believe the stock fuel system and injectors can only suppot a max of 380hp. This link might help with ur decision.

I might be wrong so if anyone else has an input correct me.

i've got 4x850 with a walbro and I only managed around 340hp by steve's *** dyno. I ran out at fuel with 14psi. The stock system can't do much over 300 or something in my car is wrong lol. I did replace the fuel filter and had all the injectors cleaned and flow tested all above 850cc. I'd keep it out of the boost completly until you get a full fuel sytem.

Don't worry about your Primaries.. Leave them 550cc..
Just go ahead and get the 1600 secondaries.. Save the time and money
and get it now, instead of later. Because you will eventually. Plus
1300's are remachined 850's.. and failure prone.. Just search. you'll see.
So just get Fuel pump, walpro, denso.. etc... FUel rail, regulator and 1600cc inject.
alot of people parting out single set ups.. these days.. So you can probably get all
that you need real cheap..
Meanwhle.. Put in a 8lb spring in your wastegate.. And just drive it like that until you are
ready.. So no matter what you do.. the spring wil release and keep your psi @8..
Set your boost controller to anything 8 or lower..
have fun.

i wouldnt even imagine boosting while breaking in a new motor. just play the vacuum game and keep the needle down south. by the time you hit 1k miles you should have your fuel system money saved up. now go make money!

I would keep it off the boost under 3000RPM for the first 500 and then slowly tip toe up 1000 about every 200 miles after that until you reach 1000. Its pure hell but stay off the boost

the 1600s are typically Bosch top feed injectors (stock are side feed) thus the need for a new rail. Actually, some of the injectors out there are actually 1680cc if i remember correctly---they are 144 pound/min meant for a Ford Lightning, which converts to 1680. Not 100% positive, the details are sketchy in my memory, been out of the 'shop owner' mentality for a while.
keoki47, i run 850s/1300s/supra pump and it is enough to support about 420 rwhp (I'm currently about maxxed out). I am lucky and have never had problems with my 1300s, (bored out by rc engineering) but others have had problems. I have spoken to them at length, and the secret is to install them right away, or the varnish they use to clean the injectors can cause them to stick (either open or closed) if it's allowed to take a set.
Re: engine breakin, this is what i recommend to customers at Gotham, and it is conservative if anything (also this was for motors with new rotor and stat gear bearings).
first 500 miles, revs below 4k and minimal boost. change oil and filter.
next 1000 miles (1500 total), revs below 6k and boost less than 5-7 psi or so. change oil and filter.
Tune and let 'er rip .

P.S. Sorry about your FB. That was shitty luck. That guy better have had insurance. I would have stuck around, but the cops kicked us and everybody else out.

[QUOTE=FLA94FD]You could only make 340 HP with 4 850 because you ran out of fuel? Was the duty cycle too low? The stock setup will support that with a good fuel pump.
I've got a walbro pump in it and my flow rates were 871, 870, 864 and 853cc and I was hitting 90 percent duty cycle at 14 psi so we stopped. I did tune it a little fat for when winter rolls around. I have my a/f's at 10.5 so thats probably some of it.
