Yeah. If you don't have rear speakers you probably had the wave guide speaker originally, but it was taken out at one point.

I need to put some attention to my wave system. I don't barely have any sound coming from it and i would like to hear what ths thing is supposed to really sound like. At this time, my balance is off at the front. Just when I think that I have the sound balanced up front, one side fades. Maybe I should look into some new speakers.

Here is a question. When I got my car, the owner had removed the center dash bose speaker and replaced it with a dual gauge pod. Is that also where the amplifier is located? If he removed the speaker (and the center amp) would that cause the wave not to work? I just don't have sound coming from the wave at all.

You know, I just popped in the repaired amps (sent them to carstereohelp.com couple weeks ago) today and finally heard what the system is supposed to sound like (minus the center speaker, didn't have time to put that amp in). The sound is decent, but having a premium set of 12"s on 1200watts rms in my SUV kind of left me wanting more.

The center channel speaker is actually to the left of the glove box. Not too hard to get to, maybe 3 screws total, but it is a bit of a pain to wedge it out. Heres directions to do it, i think the 1st one is where its located most of the time:

Didn't see the second part of your post...but no that wouldn't make your wave stop working. My guess is your sub amps are bad, just like mine were. You can get them repaired at carstereohelp.com ; most people here on the forum get it done there.

You could probably install 6 x 8 speakers in their.. but mine has the "cubbies" also

Another approach is to use a Bose headunit from a Miata or 626. The Miatas have the correct color backlighting and the 626's can be changed from green to the proper color.

Easy to source on e-bay or salvage. Simple to hook up, requires a couple of adapters but links properly with the Bose speakers.

Keeps a more stock look.

I just had my rear "Wave" Bose system out of the car. The 2-pin connector that "goes nowhere" appears to be connected to the ground and 12v on the 6-pin connector. I guess it is for some, (maybe non-US), option that requires a (switched from radio head unit) power supply, though it's difficult to know what this option may be!

I think I heard on another thread that this 2-pin connector is connected to one of the audio-in channels on the 6-pin connector that also goes to one of the 2 amps, (for test purposes, by plugging a speaker into the 2-pin connector), so you can test whether the correct input is getting from the head unit to the rear amp. and thus diagnose whether it is the amp. or the speaker that is faulty This is different to what I observed (as above) and seems unlikely, as you woud only be able to check one of the two channels by using it.

Anyway, it appears that the 2-pin connector is not supposed to be connected to anything, so there is no need to worry about it!
