Question boost issues 93

My bf 93 rx7. mileage is 130k+
Mods:
intercooler
downpipe
midpipe
greddy muffler(entire exhaust is 4inch)
intake
bov
short shifter
radiator
no ac/heat
ast

we beleive the second turbo is toast...it smells like burning oil when it does open. usually doesnt open jerks and hesitates. Makes a whine noise too.

Well question is since the second turbo is bad would that cause the primary not to spool to 10psi? boost gauge reads 8-5-5 maybe 6.

may have few more mods-those r wht i remember.

Well im not really an expert, but if you hear a whining noise coming from the turbos, then i'd say it's bad. I read a thread a little while ago about another guy who was having the same whining noise from his turbo and turns out they were done.

What I would do, is either have your turbos rebuilt and balanced for about $1,500 to make them like new, or buy a used low mileage set of twins on this forum for a few hundred dollars. While you're there, might as well do a vacuum hose job with silicone hose techniques. Hope I helped

I had a turbo go out on me. The turbine came off, exploded and went though the motor. Caused me to get new housing. I dont know if this is common but it did happen to me. Just so you know. Also so upgraded engine management?

What im saying is if the turbine comes out and goes though the motor it can cause you to buy new housings $720 a piece, new rotors $625 a piece, and other things that dont need to be replaced if the motor isnt destroyed. Like i said i dont know how often this happens but it did happen to me and i needed new housing tacking on $1400 to the rebuild cost.
