boost + bald tires + sand = ouch

oh no! it was inevitable...its The Curse Of The Armadillo, just when youre about to run over the armadillo in a 7 the 99 spec lip normally would slice any other animal in half except the armadillo, when you hit the armadillo you separate its soul from its body. The body F*cks ups but the soul gets trapped in youre engine bay, this causes weird $h*t to happen like me waking up and writting this post....
but in conclusion hope you get fd fixed soon

this is not meant to be an insult, I hate hearing these stories and then "bald tires" in the title. You drive a high performance sports car, treat it like one...its not cheap in the first place to own an FD, so don't say you don't have the money.

Everyone on this forum has the biggest head. They automatically think their the **** because they have an FD. When you put a lot of these owners in a small area their heads dont fit so they make fun of people till they leave so they have more head room.
Mr. Fujikuro - I can't give sympathy for someone who takes a U-turn (normally while in boost...stated by yourself) in a high performance sportscar with bald tires (stated by yourself) at high enough speeds to smash two rims and give you two flat tires (stated by yourself).
What were you expecting posting this dumbass move on the forum??

everyone makes mistakes adam c. if you havent already (...and forgotten about them), you're day will come.
but there wasnt any real need in trying to be an *******. you dont know me or anything about my situation/life-in-general, so all your doing is making yourself look like a dick by trying to act like a badass. grow up buddy.

If you want somebody to tell you its OK, go cry to your mommy. Maybe YOU need to grow up. At 20 years old, you should have lots of time.

The most important thing Fujikuro is that you learn from this and realize bad things can happen. You gota have discipline when you own an FD or any fast car. I used to be a crazy driver, race anyone, do 160 down the highway, fly though twinsty roads like I was playing GT3 untill I totaled my first FD 2 years ago. I was 19 then and I'll admit I was too young to have an FD then I didn't respect it and I learned a very hard lesson and realized I had to learn disipline if I wanted this car. FD's are great cars but they are unforgiving sports cars in that they usualy oversteer. There's no room for any mistakes on the street and we ALL make them or will make them. Most of the time everythings fine and nothing bad or unexpected happens but then that imposable thing you never thought about does happen and you end up in trouble. When you drive around with bad shocks, bad breaks, loose steering, bald tires, or cheep tires all you do is increese that chance that somethings gona go wrong. I'm sure you realize this now but it's important that 3 months from now, a year from now.... and so on, you remeber the way that you feel right now and that will help you keep it under control.
That said go out to a track and race, well all love to race thats why we have these cars they are basicly street legal race cars so get it out of your system and race on a track where there are no cops and some room for error. Going out to the road course has been the best thing I ever did makes you realize you don't have to race on the street and take risks.
There is a time and place for everything. I'm not saying I drive like a grandma and constantly go the speed limit but I pick times and places of low risk. Never do I speed on back roads basicly just the highway and never for more than a few seconds. And if I feel like having fun and doing some drifing or doughnuts I go to a wide open parking lot with lots of room for sliding a little to far or spining out.
Now that I've said that the perfect and wonderfull Adam C, who obiously loves conflict and thinks he has the right to judge people and put them down will probly tell me I shouldn't have an FD too and then he might actualy think I care. I just have one question for Adam, have you ever crashed a car ? Cuz unless you've been there you really wouldn't understand IMO.

Mistakes happen, in the ideal situation you learn from them. A car is just a material item that depriciates in value...it can be repaired with enough time, effort and money. Glad to hear you are okay, and hopefully learned something from this.
Good luck.
Good luck.

eh not to bring this up again but
the car wasnt even fucked up that bad. the only reason it got the damage it did is 1: because its lowered and the wheels popped up and smushed the fenders a little, and 2: because the bumper was already broken from hitting an armadillo so the brackets were broke and it smushed the hood a little.
haha the car isnt totaled at all, despite some of you are acting like it is... insurance gave me more than enough money to fix it and i already ordered carbon fiber fenders, a CF scoot hood, & a CF cwest style bumper. oh wow and one of the rims had some curb rash....so im gettin one new rim & tire.
jesus christ, im not a bad driver, and im not some stupid ignorant kid. i've never wrecked a car before this, or even bumpped into anything for that matter. i dont drive around like an ******* and i take damn good care of my car, hell most of my money i make goes into that (yes, i work daily job as well as do freelance writing/shooting for a few national car magazines as time allows...) i'm a full time college student living on my own and i guarantee i'm more responsible than 90% of the people my age. anyone trying to give me **** needs to get off their egotrip. wisdom & intelligence aren't necessarily inherited with age, so dont assume you're so much better than anyone who isn't your senior.
this thread is dead... maybe ill start a new one in two weeks called 'pics of my new cf body parts'

And the moral(s) of the story:
1. Tires are more important than lowering springs
2. Don't drive as if the streets are your personal racetrack. When you spin, you'll hit a curb.
3. Young people are statistically proven to be very likely to learn this type of lesson first-hand. It's called inexperience, and although it can be found in older drivers, it's very prevalent in young drivers.
A "few times autocrossing" is not nearly enough experience to make you a good driver. I've been autocrossing for 2 years now, and I'm nowhere near the level of the veterans who instruct at our local schools. Most of them aren't national contenders, just people who have been driving for long enough that they can hop in my car and beat my lap times by at least a second or two. Don't underestimate the skills that can be gained with 20+ years of experience.
Think of it this way: remember how bad a driver you were two or three years ago? You'll be that much better in another two or three years, but only if you choose to learn from your mistakes. I recommend "Going Faster! Race Driving Techniques" by Skip Barber , "Drive to Win" by Carroll Shelby, and I'm sure Bondurant has written a book although I can't recall the name. www.turnfast.com is a great website, but I don't think it's working right now.
Imagine if you were an 'old fart' and you spent $35k on a car. That car would be very precious to you, as $35k is no small investment. Wouldn't you be pissed to learn that teenagers and twenty-somethings were buying them for cheap, treating them with a substandard amount of respect and wrecking them because they didn't have to sacrifice so much to buy the car you spent a long time saving up for?

I wouldn't blame it on the car if you still had 30% of thread left and steering wheel in order.
Making U-Turn and boosting just indicates that you intentionally wanted to slide the tail, and while picking up boost you also picked up speed, which caused you to first slide on the gravel and then loosing the tail, then over-correcting it and BANG.
Time for some track days or something. Dont use street to hone your skills, it can be expensive.

As someone who autoxs a couple dozen times a year I'll insist you don't need to autox to be an excellent driver on the street. Driving safely on public roads has absolutely nothing to do with how good you are in using a steering wheel, it has to do with how good you are in using your brain and not making stupid decisions. Let's repeat that: Good drivers do not make stupid decisions. Nearly all accidents are caused by someone doing something stupid and completely avoidable.
There is absolutely no excuse for going around a u-turn and running off the road other than driver error. The road was not dangerous as nobody else was falling off the road. If there is sand there the driver should perhaps use his observation skills to look where the hell he is going and weigh that against how fast he will travel around the corner! Ridiculous.
The sole reason for this accident is that the driver made a dumb error. Have I made dumb driving errors before? Certainly. But I won't stand here and point to a pile of sand and claim it was the sand's fault.
