Question BNR Clutch Pedal Stiffness?

Alright, well Friday night I finished my clutch and flywheel install. I now have a BNR Spec Stage 3 Clutch and RB Lightweight Steel Flywheel and my pedal is the same as stock if not softer. Do I need to bleed my clutch lines or something? My friend has Atkins Stage 2 Cltuch and his pedal feel is much stiffer than mine. Also, 2nd gear feels really stiff to get in to and out of. It goes in fine but requires more effort than all the other gears except reverse. It never was like than before. I switched all my fluids to Redline as well. I have drove the hell out of my car this past day, 550 miles or so and it drives fine, but alot was highway so I still have not been able to really step into my car, just kind of puttin' around below 4000 rpms.
When we put the ACT 2600 in my GSX it was stiff as hell and this clutch and pressure plate are supposed to hold up to 425 rwhp but I seem to doubt it. It also does not bite real hard, I figured being a 4-puck clutch that it would jerk my car all around and stall but it is really mild and seems to feel like a regualr clutch you can slip it up hills and stuff, it does not just grab and go like I thought it would.
Anyways, I was just checking to see if there is anything that I need to do to make it feel better or if this is how all BNR Spec Clutches feel. Thanks, Scott

Well did you get a pressure plate? That will be the only factor in make'n it stiffer.

I had the BNR Stage 2 and that too IMO had a "soft" pedal feel. I kinda liked it though. I logged close to 1500 miles on that clutch and it didn't seem to slip at all on me. And I had a considerable amount of mods. Give the SPEC clutch a chance, IMO it's good stuff.

Did you bleed the slave cylinder? It's right above the starter on the left side of the transmission.

I did not bleed anything. Just put the tranny back in with the new clutch and flywheel and changed my fluids. Should I bleed the Slave? We removed the entire assembly from the tranny and no fluid leaked out but I can bleed it if I need to. Soctt

When I put my clutch in I didn't notice that I needed to bleed the slave but I did it just in case. It might not make a difference but worth a try. It takes like 5 seconds.

I talked to Brian at BNR and he says that they are designed that way for more streetability. Now I have conflitcting answers. Did you bleed anything or do anything different then just installing it? Scott

Dont get me wrong, its a VERY streetable clutch. Maybe my clutch was just that worn out before the engine swap. Yes I bled it before I used it...had to because my pedal was on the floor and pumping it left it still feeling pretty soft.

LaneChange, thats how it is. Its pretty close to stock petal feel. It is a 4 puck but its also sprung, your prob thinking of a unsprung 4 puck.

BoostedRotors is comparing his to a worn out 2nd gen clutch

I would go ahead and bleed it just in case, I did mine

Alright I'll bleed it and assume all is well, but it feels like I am going to annihalate this clutch. Brian also said that I had to put 1000 miles on it before I race it. Is he ******* kidding? Damn! 1000 miles of city driving will take me forever to rack up. I have put close to 600 on it so far but mostly highway, 450 or so higgway. I wanted to race this weekend as well but I was thinking about 300-500 miles, not 1000.

Well, I think he said 1000 cause its mostly highway driving where you dont use the clutch as much.

If you mostly driving city miles 500 is prob pretty good but the more miles you get on it the better. It gives time for everything to seat good and create a good surface

The SPEC clutches have a warrenty (unlike some clutches) so if anything is wrong with it they will cover it.....the only stipulation is you have to have the flywheel resurfaced......did you do that???

If its hooking then you should be ok. How tight did you torque down the clutch to the flywheel? I think your supposed to tq it down 25lbs, that can make a difference.

I torques everything to spec and I installed a brand new RB Lightqweight Flywheel so the warranty should be covered.
