my apologies. just thought that i read on page seven that he found a new place that can dyno and he would be there in 10 minutes and save it to a disk. thought he was done. anyways, if this is all true i hope you are making enough for me. i will buy a set and my buddy will defiantely be buying a set.

hey Glass.
The Secret weapons have less friction on the rotating assemblies therefore eliminates a large percentage of stress on the shafts. This allows you to run more reliable boost. The more boost you run, yes, the more stress there is on the shaft. But I have eliminated most of the stress. Down the road I am developing a different thrust bearing to supply better lubrication and also some lower friction bearings to help cut down some more of the friction. Doing the designing has been a step by step process that has taken a lot of my time and it is finally working out great. A set of Secret Weapons are being sent to Rich in Texas and Steve Kan is going for 500 RWHP with these turbos. Keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best! :) Merry Christmas! Bryan, something else to think about too that I might be doing is the Nitrous Express Ntercooler kit. That was proven to add like 40rwhp on a turbo Honda. I think that might be something to consider for all the drag guys out there. I'm interested to see how much it will add on mine if/when I get it.

For anyone that doubts Bryans turbos, just ask anyone who has one (or a pair).
When Anthony (Felix Wankel) still had his TII with a worn out 160k stock port engine and a BNR stage 1 upgrade, he stayed right by my fender, and I was running a fresh BNR street port rebuild w/ solid 3" exhaust and some other goodies on a stock turbo @ 12 psi. These things are no joke. Anyone considering other options as far as turbos go needs to have their head checked! Shortly after my new engine goes in a BNR turbo will be next in line...then all you upgraded FD guys better watch your backs :devil: Also, glad to see your car is finally up again Stephen, and that Bryans twins are finally getting some MUCH deserved recognition. For Now: I could ascertain from this thread wether they are running sequentially or in parralel. If its parallel, i'll be very interested to see if or how the spool as quickly (or more quickly) than the stock twins. Keep up the good work! |
Well, the first thing that should be done is a patent on these turbos. asap. Then we need stephen to get a back up run. Then when he confirms it, I'll be sending mine in!
Couple questions though that have'nt been said. 1)Are these ran in non-seq, or seq? 2)What kinda ftlbs did it make on the dyno? 3)At what rpms did you make your peak hp, and ftlbs or torque at? Please don't sidestep the questions, like when Rikki did with his 360+hp run. CJ |

Sounds like someone may have stumbled onto something. If these turbos do what has been said(and I'm not doubting it) then they will really put BNR on the map not that you're not highly regarded already though. I'll be interested to take a look at the dyno sheets too. |
I agree with pp13bnos too, try to be as up front and honest about what mods were done to the car/motor without getting too much into the secrets of the turbos. I can respect your secret if you have one as lots of other turbo builders keep their turbo internals secrets as well.

I believe they're talking 2k-ish. Sounds worth it if they perform as we all hope.
Regardless of wether they're "worth" more, i bet they'll actually make more money if they keep around that price.... you see how many folks have bought the M2 set... like two or so. Once the price creeps anywhere near that of a single turbo kit, folks will be crawling out of the woodwork on this forum to say "why wouldn't you just simplify and go single turbo?" |

Baddog, I've been going over the fuel inj duty cycle issue. If you use the 40psi of fuel pressure it does seem to be low but I've been reading Lightening in a world or thunder and it says the stock fuel pressure is 37lbs at 0psi of boost and goes up 1lbs for 1psi. My fuel pressure reg is tied to the manifold just like my gauge so I would use my gauge boost reading (instead of the pfc boost reading), which was 17pri of boost. This would come to 37 + 17 = 54psi of fuel pressure
Using all this info on Max Coopers site here is what I came up with...... BSFC of .60 fuel press of 54lbs pri of 875 (RC flowed them at 875's instead of 850) sec of 1205 (RC flowed) 75% inj duty cycle 467 RWHP I guess the issue is if Lighening in a World of Thunder is correct about the fuel pressure, I'd have to assume it is since its tied into the manifold pressure and the numbers work out perfect. Yup, Brian cut out the door in the manifold and I removed teh butterfly in the Y pipe. EVERYTHING single thing that has to do with the turbo system as been removed except the wg actuator and it hooked up totally manual with no wg solenoids or anything.
Its as bare bones as you can get....which is exactly what I wanted BTW - If you buy a set of these turbos Brian removes teh door in the manifold anyway, its included in the price....which looks like will be $2000 even....with a good core of course, which means dont wait till they blow up or till you pop a motor to do it cause then you'll have to buy turbine wheels and such. Hey Stephen, I just got off the phone with Bryan - he said you got pulled over by a cop after just a few gears, lol. That fast, huh? Looking foward to you second dyno numbers. Did he clip your turbine wheels? I have the BNRs in a box up at KDR ready to go in right after xmas. I emailed Dave telling him to send them back to Bryan to convert to "secret weapons" Bryan said the carbon seal ones will put down similar numbers with the new compressor wheels he's using but the response isn't even close. Full boost shouod come on by 2900-3K rpms in seq. mode depending on what boost is run.
I know he said that Rich (Goodfellas) will be running the "secret weapons" sequentially and are shooting for 500 rwhp - can you imagine a 500 rwhp twin-turbo FD that weighs 2700 lbs and has full boost by low 3K rpms - now that's a street car - low-mid 10s isn't out of the question. I also didn't realize you could run 18-19 psi on the PFC by richening the last 2 or so cells. Hopefully Dave can get some decent numbers out of these twins. |
To be quite honest guys the lag is non existant, you need to run the non seq. The reason is if you wait till 4500 to bring the 2nd turbo online your shooting yourself in the foot by running only one turbo up to 4500 when you could be running 2 turbos from 3K up.
I start to build boost at 2500, at 3000 I'm right at 10psi and the tires start spinning pretty good, at 4000 I'm at full boost (17psi) and the tires are ripping apart and I'm sliding sideways. THERE IS NO REASON TO RUN SEQ WITH THESE!!!!!! You'll be running WAY less cfm with one turbo versus two turbos. I can run the same power with much less boost. When I'm at 7psi you'd need to be a prob 10psi at least to match the hp since you'd only have one turbo going STEPHEN |

I shall reserve all judgement til i see the dyno sheets. non seq boosting by 3300 is an exception ya know...some guys get low spoolup times...others do full non seq and end up going back to seq cuz they dont boost til 4k...right? Ive run my ball bearing twins non seq and shall believe the low spoolup times on larger wheels and shaft bearings when i see it. bryan obviously knows what he is doing...I hope he pulls it off...and may you all have fast cars for the new year! jason |

I just wanted to comment how bryan can make externally factory looking turbos push out over 450rwhp. Just a thought i couldn't fathom until now. can't wait to see those numbers. All of us we'll be running the BNR Secrets in no time. :)

When I installed the old BNRs I didn't get full boost until 4500 rpms - I also had clipped turbines. Bryan is now using a new compressor wheel which is designed for velocity or tip speed. The blades are angled differently and are a lot more aggressive. I agree with artguy in that there's nothing like sequential turbos - instant boost. But running the new BNR turbos with the different internals has allowed incredible response and very quick spooling, unlike the old carbon seal turbos he was using. Now it's going to be a while before I get dynoed - Stephen, hurry and post those numbers!!!:D |

That is exactly what I was getting. I've already got about 500 miles on these turbos. Now the ONLY thing different that MIGHT make a difference is that I'm running a FULLY manual boost control system with NO solenoids at all which is what I like. If that is what makes the differnce anyone can convert over to it for about $15 and a trip to Home Depot Racing just like I did. I'm making back up dyno runs to check the hp BUT....the spool I KNOW that is absolutly right, for my car anyway and there is nothing secret about my car. I will say this, while the car was on the dyno and I was logging the boost I would see pretty big differences in spool just due to tuning and taking out fuel....of course when we started I had a PEAK a/f of 8:1 and as low as 6 or 7:1 haha STEPHEN |

My peak tq was 388 @ 5600rpms My peak power was 465 @ 7200 rpms I was on a Dynomite which runs 15% less than a Dynojet but the numbers are in Dynojet numbers which is what everyone wants to see since thats what everyone uses. Also, they are SAE corrected. Not corrected I was about 13rwhp more at peak. Steve Kan got quite a lot of seat time in my car and said it feels faster than his RED 3rd gen when its on pump gas!!!!!! WOW, that should tell you what you need to know haha. He is visiting family but when he gets back to a computer I'm sure he will post his opinions which since he is buying a set for himself and 2 friends I think you'll like his opinions lol STEPHEN |

Wyum Yea, I just got off the ph with Steve Kan and he was saying the same thing. Since thats the case it still comes to 430rwhp at 80% (I decided to check it at lunch and it hit 80.1%). I called Steve and talked to him about it when we were trying to line up the 2nd dyno. He says my car definatly feels like the dynoed numbers. He was also saying that there are alot of other variables that can play into a fuel calculator and they are basically just for a base line to give you a ball park idea. He was saying that he always makes more than what a fuel calc shows do to all the variables not entered into the calculator. Anyway, we'll see what the 2nd dyno says maybe Thurs. Untill then you guys feel free to keep asking me some questions. I'm straight up about eveything and I'll answer what I'm free to answer.....I'll be upfront about anything relating to my set up the only thing off limits is me giving my tuning map away which was requested by Steve since he didnt make me pay....and the internal turbo info.
