blown apex seal.. is it bad to drive around with it?

Hi guys, I have a blown apex seal on my 2nd rotor. I'm waiting for my motor come in. Is it bad to drive around with it? Is there a possibility of damaging my turbos?

thanx,
dave

You have all that stuff done to your car and you're considering driving around with a blown apex seal?

yes!..very bad because it could ruin your turbos!..The broken seals might go out thru the exaust ports then to your turbo..say goodbye to your turbos..

Not to mention scarring your rotor surfaces, seizing your rotor and throwing your e-shaft all out of whack, etc etc etc...

Well to be truthfull when you are doing a motor job anyways you will pull off the turbos (stock) and they will be shot to hell cracked, rubbing, and leaking oil in to the intercooler so they will need replacement. if you take care of your car and keep it top notch then dont drive it! but you are probally not the first owner of that car !! i had a bad motor idle like **** just cranked up the idle speed too 1200rpm or so and drove it. dont get me wrong it is not the best thing for it but it already has problems being that it needs a motor so if you mess up the motor any more oh well you are getting a new one!!
This is not always true. My R1 is right at 10 yrs old (built March 92, one of the older 3rd gens around) w/78k miles on it, and many of those hard (read: at redline) miles. I had a new motor put in over Xmas and Dave told me the turbos looked top notch, esp. the secondary. My motor replacement wasn't that expensive b/c I had the Hurley seals and the rotors, housings, and turbos weren't damaged at all when I blew 5 (!) apex seals. The best thing to do w/a blown motor FD is flat-bed it to a shop. Don't compound the problem. Which would you rather pay: 2 grand or 5?

Bye bye turbos... I'll miss you.

If you keep driving your car you will get the chance to say that. I agree totally with Goodfella. FLATBED.
