Blitz Power Meter Install

Blitz Power Meter Install
I was having a problem tracking down the right wire to connect the orange wire from the Blitz power meter to the ECU and found no threads to help me so I thought I would post what I finally figured out.
The Power Meter documentation incorrectly lists the wire to hookup to on the ecu for the speed (at least my directions did). When holding the ecu with the harnesses facing toward you and the harness clips up the instructions list the 5th wire from the right on the top row. It is actually the 7th wire from the right on the top row. It was getting dark so I couldnt really see the color of the wire other than it was dark with a red stripe (90% sure about the color code). Hope this helps someone in the future!

The install is relatively easy, just connect to a power and a ground and then connect the orange one like shawnk said. Although I hooked mine up wrong thanks to the instructions and never got around to fixing it due to me popping my motor.
So for another question, will the install for the orange wire be the same for an aftermarket ECU, say a Microtech?

I have a powerFC and would guess it would be the same for any aftermarket that uses the stock harness.
Sorry to hear about the engine Black97VR4. Hope it wasnt boost control that killed the engine.
Go get this done ulost2my7 - you will like the speed controlled boost channels!

Speed controlled boost channels???

Nah, my SBC-iD holds boost perfectly. I think it was the 80k miles that grenaded the engine ultimately. I definitely can't wait for the speed controlled boost because it should be helpful with the single turbo now.(I was on twins before the engine failure.)

Where I have my channels set as:
Channel Boost
1 10PSI
2 12PSI
3 14PSI
4 16PSI (not fully tuned yet)
It helps alot wth traction control - 10PSI and my new tires give very good traction down low. Any more and I can easily spin.
Once I fully tune 16 I am going to practice launching and see if I can get more aggressive on the channels - hopefully something like:
MPH Channel
0-15 1
15-30 2
30-45 3
45-60 4
60-75 4
75-90 4
etc. 4
Or maybe even more aggressive...
I have 255/40/17 tires so traction is always the limiting factor in the quickness of my car (not horsepower since it exceeds the traction capabilities of my tires).

Sorry to bring an old thread back but would i tap into the harness with a wire tap with the orange wire?? Im pretty sure ill figure it out when i open it up but just wanted to make sure.

Yep, you just tap into the speed signal to the ECU.
It's a neat electronic doodad - I've been running one for a while now. Quick and easy comparisons of mods, you can see how much power you're making, etc. I really dig it.

Sorry for bumping the thread again but i attempted to install the meter today.
The harnesses are on the firewall side. You're saying when you actually unhook the harnesses from the ECU, then hold the harness in front of you, like the connector side facing away from you, then you count the 7th wire from the right?? Or with the open connector end facing you 7th wire from the right?
I just dont want to tap the wrong wire. Thanks again.

I apologize for the quality of this picture...all I could do for you this morning.
Holding the ecu in both hands with the top facing up and the wires away from you the wire is on the left hand side, top row, green with red stripe. (you can see te red splice connecter in the pic). If that doesnt get you there I can take a better pic and actually count the wires again. Let me know.

^Cool, i get the idea now. Ill just look for the green wire with red stripe. Shouldnt be many on that particular bunch of wires.
Just curious where you hooked up your 12V to? I was going to tap into the radio harness, is that a good idea?? So when the radio is on or off, that will determine if the meter will be on or off. Or should i tap before the radio harness so its on regardless??
Thanks again

I have no idea where I tapped in but you should use something that is always on when the car is on. The cigarette lighter would probably be good. There are several things you could use around that area.
Good luck!
Good luck!
