blew my engine?

I think it migh be time for a rebuild. I was about a mile or two from my house on my way home. Do a WOT run through 2nd and part of 3rd. Got a loud backfire after 2nd and some smoke but nothing out of the ordinary. Pull into the driveway a few minutes later and the car's idling at about 500 RPM's. Shut the car off. Take a look under the hood, and start her back up 15 minutes later. Starts up no problem and the idle goes to 750 RPM's. No smoke and it revs like normal. The only thing wrong is that the idle's a bit rough and it seems to make a weird noise. Time to check the compression. Anything else that could be the problem? Like a bad coil or something? Oh yeah, vaccuum dropped from -380mmHg to -320mmHg.

By the way, did you feel like the car lost some power when you went WOT?

I get 390 at idle...at 725 rpm. I get about 450 when I have the AC on or the parking lights on

Me and you might be in the same boat!

I did the same run, heard a loud backfire, stopped at a stoplight, and it idled fine, but my PFC had a knock reading of 60. I reset the meter, took off at the light nice and easy and hit another light. When I stopped at this one, I was idling REALLY rough, and my boost was erratic .... right around -320 to -380 back and forth and back and forth and back and forth....

... so I looked at the PFC and I had a knock reading of 169!!!!

I checked the spark plugs, and they're clean. I have compression, but I'll have to get a compression test to check it out for sure....

Either way, I'm excited as HELL!!!! I'll get to port and build my VERY OWN 1ST MOTOR!!!!

Yeah, it really sucks. I'm thinking of rebuilding it myself also, but I've never rebuilt a rotary before. I really can't afford this right now. I'll definetaly be pulling the engine myself. Arrrghhhh....I was about to buy some wheels from Rishie.
