What exactly IS the deal with these turbos... did they only come from the bathurst R or other cars too? What kind of power potential do these have... specs?

I knew about those![Big Grin](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
and who ever bought them got them for a steal IMHO.
I just don't know enough about turbos to tell if they are real or not. There were only 500 bathurst models made for Japan

I don't think those turbos are from an RZ or RS or any other 280PS later model FD. Someone a while back from Australia mentioned that Mazdaspeed had made a VERY limited production run of sequential twin turbos that were much larger than anythiing that came stock, and that they were no longer available. I guess that was just a very very rare find.

I dug up the post from about a year ago (from DMRH) :
Mazdaspeed did a set of "Bathurst turbo's" back in 95 for the series-6 (92-95) RX-7 SP. They did a run of 100 sets i heard. Only 20 came down under & the rest where sold through Mazdaspeed then Auto-Exe until they ran out.
These turbo's & manifolds all bolted straight onto the 13B as standard, with vacum pipes & working actuators etc etc
Looked identical but when you placed them alongside the normal turbo's, you could see the big differences in the manifolds & turbo sizes.
Find yourself a "super rare" set of them & your laughing

oooh yeah, I remember reading about these turbos a while ago. Damn, and they sold for $1700 NEW, that's a steal if you ask me. Hopefully they were bought by an active forum member who will post some dyno numbers.

Did you check out the sellers post count? It was all from the ONE (& only) thread he has. plus he joined up two weeks ago.
Who ever did agree to buy them I hope they don't get taken. I have my doubts.
Sounded too good to be true. If they send the money Western Union they are screwed.
On the bright side, my son lives in Brisbane so he can find him & kick his ***! LOL
(seeing how Australia is a big as Europe, should be no problem)

I agree! Look at how the oil tube has been changed. I don't think the factory would change something like that.

Those compressor wheels look like they are Nissan Silvia compressors. They are just a tad bit bigger than stock. The wheel almost fits directly into the housing without machining. No they aren't quite as big as the stage 3's

From that pic, most of the size difference looks to be from a bolted connection between the compressor halves. (The regular stock ones have a snap ring). But you can clearly see a 6x double-blade compressor design over the 5x blade on the others.
I wonder what boost pressure they run at when equipped on the Bathurst R?

using the bolt spacing as a reference, the compressor housing is about 10-12% larger

The Bathurst R turbos are the same like any other 99spec FD. And just for your information the 99spec compressor wheels are 1mm smaller than the 93+ turbos. The 99spec turbos have some improvements over the past ones like abraidable seals, spool quicker(due to the size) etc... but what makes the difference in stock horsepower from the 93 to the 99spec is the boost pattern. 10-8-10 for 93, 12-10-12 for 99spec. Of course there are other differences like the ecu, rad fans..etc

Uh...those are the 99-spec turbos sitting next to the Bathurst turbos in the photo. They are clearly not the same, starting with-- as Dave mentioned-- the impeller design.
