best way to put fd 13b in car?

Hi guys I was wondering whats the best way to drop the 13b in my fd. IF going thru the top with with cherry picker or taking out the subframe and go thru the bottom?

Its better to do it from the top. Even if you dont have a cherry picker you can just lift the motor out by picking it up, its light. I actually lifted MOBEONER's engine out of his car and passed it to him and he carried it to the spot we left it in the garage. I'd guess it weighs maybe 125lbs-150lbs at most.

If you drop the subframe to remove the motor you'll have alot of work to do removing and re-installing parts from the suspension and then you'll definitely need an alignment.

Motor is 400 lbs complete.

Put it in from the top, put trans in with it. Keep the hood on, use long stick to prop it up high.

Holy ****, you enter strong man competitions or what??? Im not a little guy but it takes all of me to lift a stripped down block into the bed of a truck. Thats without flywheel etc. Maybe I need to get to the gym more often.

Have the whole car on stands/lift, drop engine in from the top with tranny attached. Once the back of the trans is past the engine subframe use a rolling jack to support the trans and help keep everyting level. Just make sure you dont smash other components as you lower the engine. There are also small holes next to the holes for the motor mount studs to drop through. Use those holes and a flat head screw driver to help you get the motor mounts to drop into place.

I've always gone through the top, with the hood removed. I've found it's easier to remove/install with the trans bolted up - you just have to go slow so you can snake the trans out. It also makes your job easier if you remove the shifter tower from the trans, but you'll have to drain the trans fluid or put a block off plate in place of the shifter. Also make sure to cap (a rubber glove + rubber band work) the driveshaft output so fluid doesn't drain out that way too.

A balancing bar for the cherry picker helps as well. It keeps the distributed weight even and makes the engine easier to tilt if need be.
