before/after dyno w/new plugs & HF cat
I recently got some dyno time up at KD. My first run was on fouled plugs due to running pig rich after a few crossed hoses with bad silicone hose job. (KD did not do the hose job but did fix it.) Some very interesting results... Who knew plugs can cause a 30 hp loss? Next was my high flow cat. I have never seen before after dyno runs with a high flow main cat so I got my own. All the details are on my site in the dyno section. I'll be posting about my custom intake soon along with more pics of my jspec wheels. (Sorry for the delay.)

Im not surprised about the plugs. I had changed my plugs about 500 miles ago, and recently my computer fried and was running really bad. After I replaced the computer it still ran like crap. I swore I had a blown motor, and even did 2 compression checks. My vacuum was low, and sounded like it was only running on one rotor. It felt like it only had about 50hp. It turns out the plugs got fouled real bad while running with that computer which was probably just dumping fuel like crazy. I changed the plugs and it runs stronger than ever...amazing.

One of my friends got it and I saw his dyno graph. It appeared to be working as advertised as the torque was much higher on the bottom end. Other than that I don't care to share anything I talked about at the shop. Skip will release details as he sees fit.

The fpr is not t'd into the map sensor but it is plugged into a vacuum source on the LIM. Will this make a difference? I don't think it would because i had it like that before all this happened.

As for the bullets not showing up try the no frames link at the bottom. Some people can't view the links because they use special code.

Nice writeup. I'm kind of surprised you only saw 10 hp increase with the hi-flow cat (although there were some indications of heat soak on the dyno). When I installed an N-Tech hi-flow cat a few weeks ago, I couldn't believe the power difference; considering the car's weight, I'd seat-of-the-pants estimate the gain to be in the realm of 20 hp. Perhaps my stock cat was on its last legs...

Nevermind guys, I think i have it figured out. My fuel pulsation dampener had a hole in the top (for i dont know how long) and i had replaced it before starting it. Apparently that hole was letting air in. I had tuned my Idle adjustment screws to compensate for the extra air leaking into the FPD. I re-adjusted the screw and its running better. I'll post if this fixes it completely.
