Baking Muffins on My Downpipe

I know, strange title. I decided to thermal wrap my DP lastnight because I started to singe up some wires around it. I pulled it off and wrapped it up...On my way to work this morning I was like

"Mmmmm, Someone's baking muffins!" Then I noticed smoke coming from under the hood....I knew immediately it was the DP and thermal wrap heating up. Anyway, it smoked pretty bad for about 10 min and then quit. All is good.

Jus thouth it was funny that it smelled like food.

What wrap did you use? I used Thermotec, and it didn't smell nearly as pleasant as baking muffins. My DP is also Jet-Hot coated, maybe that prevented me from having a nice blueberry muffin aroma.

Maybe you cook some weird muffins?

No more smoke or smell now..

And yes, the DP and manifold are ceramic coated. However, even still the wiring harness cover was starting to get baked a bit. The under hood temps have changed drastically.

Before when I drove pretty hard I would come home and couldn't touch my hood to open it. surprised the paint didn't peel off

Anyway, now, it's warm but I can handle it at least. So it's cut the temp down quite a bit.

No. You will need about 25ft. I wrapped mine and and have about half of the 50ft roll left.
