Average Cost to Replace All Bearings?

Whats the average cost in parts alone then possibly labor to replace all wheel bearings. I know for a FACT mine are shot. The car was up in the air not to long ago and without parking break or such I had a very hard time spinning the tires. The car has 130k on the chassis so I figured its about time. BTW should I go with a Mazda Dealer in the area or a personal mechanic? My mechanic has been with us for 4 years, and he fixed the A/C in my 93 FD and it still works 1 year later? Soo any suggestions anyone?

What you need to do is pick up the phone and call your personal mechanic. Ask him how much it will cost for the install if you supply the bearings. After that you need to call Ray Crowe and ask how much the bearings are. Add these two numbers up and there is your answer.

Also check out www.mazdaformance.com. They are a sponsor, so its nice to give them business. They are also competitive.
They have the front wheel bearings, listed under brakes, for 87.26 + shipping.

Give them a call.

The fronts are the whole hub assembly with studs and all. The rear bearings will cost you around 90 dollars each I think from Ray @ Malloy. Then you have the Labor for the REAR bearings..

Do a search for rear wheel bearing replacement(DamonB has a good one). There have been a few recently and I have done a few rear wheel bearings recently....It is a BIG job. ( If you take it to someone to do the whole job.)

If you take off the rear uprights, it is just paying a "good" machine shop to press the hubs and bearings out., and back in with the new ones.

Just changed my rear bearings 2 days ago...pretty easy task to get the whole hub off, then all you need to do is take it to a shop that can press out the bearing and press the new one in. Bearings cost me around $50 bucks each if I recall correctly and $20 bucks each side for the labor at the shop. If you plan on doing it yourself, make sure you have the right tools. The big center nut was the hardest thing to take off, you'll need a huge socket and rachet from Sears to get that sucker off. I was jumping on it while my bro was hitting the brakes...I swear it was torqued at 250lbs +... After that it just slid off the axle...I was lucky!

Next week the fronts...hope it's easier.

Well I would do it myself but BAH, I know this guy is relatively cheap and quite good. He doesnt cut corners. I know a Mazda dealer will charge me an arm and a leg for the parts thus why I want to go with my mechanic orginally. Thanks for the input guys.
