Autoexe forced induction airbox...
#27
I guess we will see. Or at least I will see soon enough! I think you said that in the other thread to didn't you? Your the guy that did the cool airbox mod for people right?

I would think that this relies on your having the 99+ intake slot in the bumper to feed air into the area from which it draws. Still though, it seems like quite a space consuming apparatus for a relatively small intake opening.

Hey man! Are you talking about the autoexe intake?
I think it also pulls from the regular opening as well. Take a look at that diagram to see where the air is drawn from. Alot of people have ducting to cover that top part so that air doesnt escape over everything. I think this intake sorta capitalizes on that. If you read the discription of the intake, say one of the features is that it helps redirect more air to the rad and intake as well.

From what I have read this unit will not work with a FMIC, I will be able to confirm this when I order mine in the next couple weeks.
As noted, this is mostly an aesthetic upgrade, the intake is a work of art and I would almost feel bad putting it in a dirty engine bay. Is it better then a m2 intake or another enclosed intake? Maybe, I would think the slight airflow should help, but you arent going to notice a huge difference in performance.
The only other intake that was more expensive then the Autoexe was the GruppeM which was somewhere around $1500 and was discontinued in 2003.

Would this, then, require that you keep the stock IC duct (where the stock intake draws air), or modify any aftermarket duct similarly, and thus draw air away from your intercooler?

haaa. Possibly. It looks like the M2 duct won't work, I'll see soon enough. I think the air it grabs is air that would pass the intercooler and thus not hit it anyway. Im not to sure of this but this is the impression I got.

i like the looks of the intake...looks really good to me. Also the abflug bumper has a big slot in the top/center that would be real nice for intake duct....even with this intake set-up it would direct air to the area it draws from big time here it is

autoexe intake
i haved this intake and it works well. i am using the stock intercooler. i am thinking of dremiling a small slit opening like the feed bumper has in my stock bumper to supply extra air. it sounds like a vaccum and makes the blow off valve audible.

Yea the measurements I took on the 1st page of this thread are wrong. As goodfellas pointed out to me, the site I took the info from (fd3s.net) got the measurements swapped. I think the width and the height measurements are mixed up.

Pics as requested in PM:
The supports are 3/4 inch cylindrical shims + 1/16 washer between the shim and the rad support.
It is all held together by a 1 & 3/4 inch bolt with a washer on top.
Need anymore just let me know....
