auto tranny with manual 4.11 differential

ive read a number of posts that discuss auto to manual conversions but have not found info specifically addressing this type of setup.

what is required to use the 4.11 manual tranny differential with the auto transmission? from what i could derive from the posts ive read, there may be a drive shaft mounting flange difference. if so, whats the best way to adapt these components to fit.

any input on speedo adapters or speedo gears for mph readout differences?

will the differential bolt to all existing components (axles, ppf. etc)?

has anyone with an auto done this conversion?

rpm's for selected mph's for each gear?

thanks,
chuck

It is a bolt-in mod with the exception of the companion flange on the 4.10 not matching the auto driveshaft's bolt pattern.

If you buy a 4.1 diff and have the 3.9 diff in your car already just swap the flange.

The V8 guys buy an eletrical adapter to make the speedo work correctly, you could do the same thing.

jeff,
thanks for the info. just what i was looking for. are there any seals, gaskets, etc that you would recommend replacing. havent looked at a parts breakdown of the flange, but was wondering if it is something that requires a puller to R&R the part.

have you run a similar setup in one of your cars. if so, what was your impresssion. i would imagine that the increased acceleration is quite noticeable and the overall affect to top end speed will be negligable considering i never get a chance to open it up all the way.

chuck

ps. 4.10 as opposed to 4.11 ratio - noted.

I thought the speedo used the ABS signal. Not true?

There is a speed sensor on the tranny, I don't think the speedo is integrated with the ABS.

Chuck,
If you want just the 4.1 ring gear and pinion I have one with less then 30k miles on them. You would just need someone to swap out the 3.9's in your differential. PM me in your interested.
