Question Arg! Need belt size so I can remove the airpump.

OK I have searched and I do not want to get the Greddy pullies. All I want to do is remove the airpump and use a normal belt without using pullies.

Ok I do know the belt size I need,(300mm 3-5 rib, 29 1/2" - 30 1/2" 3-5 rib), but at the auto stores around here they go by make and model not by belt size, so instead of taking the belt off and "eye matching" it(hate that) I need to know what car belts fit that size if any.

Thank You,
Jonas

I think you need the greddy pulleys because the water pump pulley will be too small to get enough friction to turn. Why don't you want to get them?

Because it's a part that's not neccesary for me to spend $200.00 on when I cna go about it a different way. Alsp going through pending court cases that will eat up my money so every little bit helps.

No you can remove it with out the kit. Buy a 290 or 295 k4 belt and see what fits the best.
Hey thanks that's the answer I'am sorta looking for, except do I just go in and ask for a 290 or 295 k4 belt(will they know what I'am talking about)? Is that off the K series trucks?

dude....

Just take a long string and wrap it around the stock pullies. take that lenght and get five rib belt from your local car parts store. I've got a 29 inch that i used for about a week. I have the greddy kit though, If you think that the 29 incher will work I'll sell it for 10 bucks. hope that helped.

regards, Matt

Did the belt that you used for a week have any problems?

I think I used a 295K4 like Rikki was talking about and it is a TIGHT fit. Pullys would be nice but for now this belt works. 300K4 is what you need I believe but its extremely hard to find in any auto parts store.

I got the 295K4. I don't think anyone makes a 295K5, and the 305K5 was TOO long. I don't think that sucker is going anywhere. I've driven with that belt almost 10 times and have taken it up to 6-7k.

I didn't go with the Greddy pulley also because I read it slows down your waterpump. Sure, it's function IS to slow down your accessories and remove the airpump, but I have this thing with slowing down the waterpump itself....

remember, with the string trick, you gotta add a bit more cuz the belts they have measure from thetop of the pullies instead of in the ribs.

good luck

The water pump will cool better if you slow it down .The water will have time to pick up more heat and more time for the rad to remove the heat. Also the pump will not cavitate at high speed, that is the main reason.
