APexi (Japan) is bankrupt.
Interesting stuff. I'm surprised I didn't hear about it until now.
I heard a bit of stuff about their financial woes, but didn't correlate
it to FULL ON bankruptcy.
This could explain why APexi cut back on their PowerFCs.
(Posting in 3rd gen section, due to PowerFC involvement w/ 3rd gens)

Wow, that is crazy if it is true. BBS and Apexi.
Damn the Chinese made cheap @$$ buyers of Ebay products.
I wonder what is gonna happen on the Power FC front, if an ECU maker will ever offer something cheap and easy to use like the Power FC.

Acording to claudio on the haltech forum there will soon be available a complete fully terminated harness custom made to fully replace the stock FD harness as a plug and play for the E8/E11. This would have the advantage of replacing the crusty stock harness with a new wiring. And while it wouldn't be as easy to setup as a PFC, it could be made nearly as easy by using a fully configured and close basemap.

Yeah, companies don't declare bankruptcy and that's the end of it. They restructure, tighten the belt up, and get solvent again. Hell, companies like K-mart have been under bankruptcy for ages.
I'll panic when I go to their webpage and get a 404 error. Until then, it's no big deal.

i don't know how much credit you'll give me for this information, but i heard about apex'i going bankrupt a couple months ago from a friend in the industry in japan. apex'i recieves much sponsorship from the Yakuza simply because financing an after-market company for cars is something investors don't feel is a justifiable source of income. and thus they apparently got financing from the Yakuza and it eventually got cut off. it may sound outrageous but there have been incidents where some aftermarket companies would sell power FC's for around 600 USD, when apex'i themselves sell them for 1000 USD. some of those companies were "taken care of" by the Yakuza.
again, all hearsay.
again, all hearsay.

an added note... if you haven't noticed by now, the tuning industry as a whole can reflect apex'i and their source of financing by the way they do business. a lot of the business is shady and just created in the whole fad of tuning that has exploded around the world. many companies will use the same parts as other companies and slap their stickers on it. for example, companies like kei office and hks won't actually develop their own coilovers; rather just slap some springs and shocks together from various parent companies and put their names on them.

BTW companies that make rebrand their products it is just because they cannot possibly make the parts themselves. Do you see Kei Office having the funds to have all the equipment and machinery not only to make coilovers but also to test them, impossible.
Re-Amemiya wheels aren't made by them because they simply could never afford the facilities. Yokohama wheels made by Enkei etc. fact is in todays market of gold for rice you need help from the big boys if you want to make some money.
On an unrelated subject I am curious to know who makes the new RE-Amemiya "Street" coilover kit.

All what is said above is very true
The only added value (if any) small independant companies is that they customise more generic parts for specific niche markets lie the FD ie. spring rates etc. may be particularly tailored to the FD for instance
